The tax applies only to tangible goods, i.e. if I'd buy a boxed version of Poser in the US for example and have it shipped to me.
Downloadable goods are exempt. (There was a bit of confusion about that a few years ago, and DAZ started to add VAT to european customers, but neither DAZ nor Rendo do it anymore.
As for my data, no offense, but I trust "big" companys like PayPal or ebay or DAZ or Rendo who can invest into security more than a one (wo-)man shop. :-)
But would "paying" you with a gift certificate of either Rendo or DAZ be an option ?
If so, please send me a sitemail.

Sigh.
Would have loved to buy the new furry cat, but that store software is way too nosy for my taste.
I won't risk giving out my real world name and real world address just to buy a single product.
Nor will I pay additional sales tax just because I don't live in the US. (Which, btw, is not necessary according to current international e-commerce laws)
I bought from other little stores in the past and they just sent me over to my PayPal page where I could pay them, then received the download link immediately via email.
No problems at all.
Hope you put the furred cat up also at Rendo or DAZ, as it looks like a lovely product I'd love to own.

Bah. On second thought. Not worth starting an argument.
I have Poser and got Studio 4 PRO for free, so at least once I can have my cake and eat it, too. :-)

Would certain technologies be withheld from the public for national security IE if one could 3d render an animation of someone well-known doing improper things to the point of believability...maybe that's a pandora's box that they don't want to open? (For "They" read: Intelligencia)"
Poser/Studio figures that look like real people ?
What a preposterous idea ! ;-)

Thread: Problems With Poser Pro 2012 Preview Windows ETC | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm pretty sure it's OpenGL, too.
Poser 8 was barely useable in the beginning because of that, too.
Problem is, graphic cards used in laptops get perhaps a driver update once a year or less and both Acers I use have Radeon cards with up-to-date drivers.
One is a Aspire 6530G with Vista 32Bit and 4GB RAM, one an Aspire 7250G with Windows7 64Bit with 8GB RAM. (Two weeks old)
Not high end gaming machines, but pretty decent IMO.
Each and any other 3D related program I use runs perfectly fine on them: Photoshop, Wings3D, Studio4, ZBrush
Except for Poser.
Poser 8 is now pretty stable after SR2 and runs fine on both machines. Even with a whole city loaded the OpenGL preview shows almost none slow down on both machines.
But PoserPro 2012 is practically unuseable with a single Vicky 3 loaded with lo-res hair and lo-res textures and full shadow preview.
Figures load with bodyparts blacked out and refresh times are 20 to 30 seconds.
Actually when I refresh, PP 2012 just stops after about ten seconds and I have to refresh again for switch from render to preview.
Render times are 50% slower than with Poser 8.
(Fastest time after three attempts using the Render Firefly script)
Not to mention that the full preview is rather unappealing no matter what combination of lightsets I use. (Standard infinite lights, IBL lights and hidden preview lights)
I'm in contact with customer service right now and I already tried lots of things. Re-install without services, new install path, etc.
I'm sure PoserPro 2012 OpenGL coding just doesn't "play well" with my graphic cards, and if that's the case, I'll try to get a refund and maybe try again once SR2 or SR3 are released or I can buy another machine in two or three years.
But honestly said, I expect a program like Poser to be coded in such a way that it can run on a common off the shelf machine using a common off the shelf graphics card.
I don't think a single nekkid Vicky needs tricky bleeding edge hardware to show up properly in the viewport.

Magenta shorts: 30min weightmapping in Poser Pro 2012
Yellow shorts: 10min Zbrush JCM in Poser 8
Sorry, but why switch to a completely different joint system that brakes all backwards compatibility then there is no substantial improvement ? A weightmap can only move a vertex in one direction. Two, perhaps, if you add the bulges. A JCM can move a vertex in any direction.
Studio 4 at least can justify weightmapping because of Genesis' flexibility and their CCT tools can do a few more tricks than PoserPro 2012 can.
Seriously, as a Poser user, besides the "bragging rights", what can weightmapping do for me ? The single axis scaling is still messed up, the tools are pretty jerky on my brand new machine and primitive compard to ZBrush, and I really don't see a smaller overhead footprint wether you have three weightmaps per joint or one or even two JCM morphs.
Honestly, I look at PoserPro 2012 with the "Dregon" and "Allyson2" and I look at Studio4 and Genesis and Vicky5 (soon) and I feel the guys over at DAZ really tried a lot harder this time and that I got the short end of the stick.
And as a Poser user for eleven years now, I really don't like that feeling a bit.

ScreeD completely SUCKS. Sorry my Klatchian.
If I wanted to look at a rubbish preview, I would use Poser 4 again.
I just bought a brand new machine with Windows 7 64Bit and 8GB RAM just for PoserPro 2012 and guess what ?
The touted preview with "realtime" shadows looks like complete rubbish. Slow as molasses with even a single nude figure and the "shadows" are a blocky mess.
And if you disable all the bell and whistles to make run as fast as with Poser 8, the hair now looks like crap. Unless you turn some "extras" back on, which, again slows it down.
Refreshing times between render and preview take up to 25 seconds. With Poser 8 they are instantenious.
Render speed takes 50% LONGER even for a single nude figure using the exact same render settings.
The fabled "weightmapping" still needs JCMs to look anywhere close to realistic. Well, if I still need to create JCMs to get good joints, then what's the whole point of a completely new rigging system ?
Not to mention that the weightmapping brushes are also very slow and jerky and hard to control. Unlike the morphing brushes of ZBrush, which worked perfectly well even on my old 32bit machine.
So we now have "real SSS". Well, it's of course not the "real real" multi-mapped SSS of the Big Boys, but a "sorta" SSS, but still. Truth to be told, I don't really "need" SSS for my art. If I really needed it that bad, I would have switched to DAZ Studio years ago.
I upgraded Poser because I was promised better speed and better rigging and I think I really didn't got any of it.
Yes, I'll open up a ticket at SM and see how it goes.
But if this isn't solved FAST, I think after 11 yrs of using Poser, it's time to look for another solution.
Thread: morph help needed : Supermarionation Jaws for Poser. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The render is untextured with the lip material colored so some stretching around the mouth corners is visible, but with a proper texture that blends the corners to the skin, this could be easily hidden.
As the lip moves along the y-axis only, I think a simple morph is "good enough" to get the proper Supermarionation effect.
Of course creating a lip prop and smart propping it to the head shouldn't be too hard, either.

Test shows a 7-sided cylinder with an n-gon on top.
From left to right:
soft edges - planar
soft edges - nonplanar
bevelled edges - planar
bevelled edges - nonplanar
hard edges - planar
hard edges - nonplanar
Default render settings with 80° standard smoothing angle
What surprises me also is that the "simple" hard edges render (now ?) actually better than the more "elaborate" bevelled edges.
Usually bevelled edges were to be preferred when you wanted crisp edges in Poser as they rendred more "naturally", but they also raised the mesh size quite a bit.

Nah, it's your model. No need to ask anything. :-)
As for the rigging, there's no need to re-rig it.
Just make sure the groups (bodyparts) stay named indentical, i.e the "new" frame with the lo-res chain is also called "Frame" just like the original.
Then you can just edit the references in the orginal cr2 to point to the modified object.
Or load the new object file into Poser, enter the SetUp room and click on the original cr2.
Then safe the new figure to the library.
Either way, as long as you just change the polycount and not the dimensions, you can simply re-use the rigging I made.

Hmm, yes, I think a lower poly version wouldn't hurt.
Just for myself, I made new gears, chainguard and chain, and I brought it down to 37k polys overall.
(I re-added a few polys to the saddle for the chrome stripes)
Here are some pics:
