That´s probably a good idea. Even more if you need to do indoor scenes. :)
I´ve done some commissioned work with Maxwell, but those were untextured stuff where i did all the texturing in Photoshop. I´ve noticed that most of the problems comes with texturing, and you´ll have less issues with grey shaded stuff.
Although i understand that working that way doesn´t suit everyone.

A rule is that the more objects in a scene, the more unstable Mawell gets.
With my last scene, i ended up having to bake everything into 4 objects(all metal 1 object, all concrete 1 object etc) or Maxwell would simply crash without reason. Hence i basically terminated every possibility to further edit the objects.
As i said, working with a few objects usually works well, but if you´re going to do a larger scene, prepare yourself for problems.

Quote - Did i mention that Maxwell Materials and renders are incredibly simple to set up?
Uhmmm...well, that´s not entirely true i´m afraid. The simplicity of setting up a scene is solely based on what type of scene you´re trying to render. 10-20 objects is one thing, but when you have a couple of thousand objects, which i consider a normal scene, Maxwell and its armada of unexplained error messages is a f'''''g nightmare, and you´ll most likely need 3-5 times the amount of time than normally to finish up the scene.
If you´re going to use Maxwell, SAVE OFTEN and save separate backups, because anyone of those errors can corrupt the scene file.
I´m not even going into the materials part. That editor was designed by the village idiot and i really couldn´t hate it more. Probably why i always use C4D materials...
Love the lighting though. :)

downloading as we speak
I´ve tried some different styles as well, from electronica to drum&bass.
I´ll see if i can upload some of the old stuff to my webpage. I have a lot of tracks on minidisc here, just need to find a cable to get them into the pc.(something i should´ve done ages ago)
Gotta warn you though, it´s non-commercial stuff. So no Britney Spears.

Still a freelancer and still keep turning down job offers. Suits me the best.
CG and the house pretty much take up most of my time, but with the house completed, i´m actually thinking of getting myself some equipment and start making some music again. Most likely with a Virus TI and VST as a core.
Sadly i sold all my keyboards a long time ago. A bad move from my part.

Hey there Pidjy, long time no seen. :)
Unfortunatly i´m under NDA and can´t reveal anything about the project, but i´ll post the scene once everything is released.
With a little luck, this one may show up on the big screen as well. ;)

That´s for being away to much.
The graphics and overall look is not bad at all, i´ve always favoured darker colors for image presentation.
The navigation is another story. I preferred the old way, it was less cluttered.
And sadly this webpage is starting to look more and more like a store for Poser content and less like a community and image gallery.

Thread: Slightly OT: OS, and which would you choose? | Forum: Bryce
Personally i´ld never install Vista on a machine for CG purposes, i´ld purchase XP64 instead.
Vista is a toy and waste most of your machines resources on non essentional features and eye candy, plus you pretty much have to turn off 75% of the OS to get a somewhat workable system.
Even if you get the OS pre-installed, i´ld still recommend a complete reformat and switching to XP64. It´s proven solid and you can get OEM versions for as little as $50.
Actually, i´ld even recommend OSX before Vista, and everyone knows i hate Apple... :)

I think the big difference lies in what the forums look like.
While CGtalk is basically one big section where most people are somewhat anonymous, here at Renderosity people in one forum usually know each other well and know people using different apps in one or more of the other forums.
Add to the fact that there are more beginners here(most of them are intimidated to post at CGtalk), and you get a completely different climate.
Although suckers do exist everywhere. I used to have my fair share of "This sucks" and similar comments in most places i´ve posted images, especially when i was using Bryce. I just didn´t pay them any attention unless they came with something constructive.
Any real artist know the value of using different tools for different purposes regardless of pricetag, so you should just treat snobbery like air and focus on the valuable comments. After all, those are the ones that really counts.

Most people over there are actually nice guys and not at all that bad, but naturally a few rotten apples pop up occasionally, it´s unavoidable no matter what forum you visit.
Unfortunatly there´s still a few people around thinking that a huge pricetag is equal to CG greatness. Fortunatly these people are also a dying breed.

Hi guys.
Sorry Fran for not responding earlier, it has been some extremely busy last couple of weeks and a job with tight deadlines.(still is)
I have the scene and tutorial on one of my backup disks here. I´ll see if i can find it and give you an answer. It does sound strange.
It´s true that i rarely use Bryce these days, but as for reaching its limits, i was more referring to my limits rather than the softwares. :)
It´s just a lot quicker to model what i need with Cinema.
But with that said, the commission i´m working on now will have quite an amount of models made with grayscales and Bryce´s terrain editor in it, so i haven´t abandoned Bryce completely. It still is one of the best editors available. :)

You´re not making it easy are ya...Hard to choose since i´ve never been 100% satisfied with any image, but the Shangri-La scene came pretty close.
I strived to get a "painted" look with a touch of realism in it, and simultaneosusly wanted to show a grand scale with an interesting pov. Personally i think i nailed it, but that may be up for debate.

Thread: OT - Eye operation | Forum: Bryce
Anything involving the combination of the words "surgery" and "eyes" scare me shitless. But fortunatly they´re pretty good with eye surgery these days.
And think positive. Once this is over, you don´t have to worry about the make-up getting all screwed up anymore.
Best wishes.
