Anthony Appleyard has a utility in freestuff called IMAGEDIT with can convert .bmp to .BUM files, though I haven't used it myself so I don't know if it can do batch conversions (and of course, you'll have to batch convert all your .jpgs into .bmp files first)Thread: NEEDED: Tutorial for Poser Creation in Amapi 6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Liz, your friend is going to love Amapi 6, I've been using it to build Poser stuff for a couple of years now, and having .obj import/export is a huge advantage. Regarding Amapi's import/export for .obj files, if you're going to be using numeric inches as your measuring units, then change the scaling factor from 1.00 to 100.00 If you prefer cm, then change it from 1.00 to 254.00 (1 inch = 2.54cm) Then make sure that none of the axes are being switched, so 'x becomes x', 'y becomes y' and 'z becomes z' (I can't remember now, but I thing the default setting switches at least one axis). This will enable you to move .obj files from Poser to Amapi and back again without any scaling or translation issues, which is very handy indeed (finally, you can make morph targets in Amapi LOL). BTW, you mentioned that you'll be doing the UV mapping - can I recommend that you get a copy of UVMapperPro (if you don't already have it). Between Amapi 6 and UVMapperPro you'll have all you need to creating Poser content. Best of luck. - Graham

Blocks 1-20 are in freestuff, they're hosted for Moebius87 by FishNose.Thread: Battlestar Galactica WIP | Forum: 3D Modeling
hewsan - that's good advice, but in this instance I'm just modelling the 'G' for fun, so render times aren't really an issue. It's occurred to me however, that I could use renders of the detailed version to generate texture maps for use on a lower-rez version (that way I could build myself a fleet LOL)
numanoid - I'm using a P3 800Mhz with 512MB of RAM - so I'm not exactly a power user myself LOL. I'm hoping that the final mesh will be less than 200,000 polys, which will make it smaller than the Humvee model produced by PoserWorks. I use this as a benchmark, as it's the biggest model I can work comfortably with on my system.
Thanks to everyone for the input and kind words, it's much appreciated.

Thank you Schlabber, much appreciated - and well done to your translators too, they did an excellent job.
Thread: A clean expletive? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A popular 'light' expletive here in the north of England is 'bugger' (probably corrupted from 'beggar'), as in 'yer daft bugger', 'oh bugger', and the less frequently-used exclamation 'well bugger me', a phrase which has since given rise to a joke concerning a magic lamp, a startled Yorkshireman, and a very literal genie ;)

Thread: Modellers - a free, redistributable base mesh for making M2 footwear | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
illusions - I got the MikeJacketBase and Stephanie Quicksuit from the freestuff section at PoserStyle (http://poserstyle-3d.com/). I think he has other quicksuits available to buy at 3D Commune (http://www.3dcommune.com/)
Larry F - I have a sinister ulterior motive - I need more footwear for Mike, but I don't have the time to make it myself. I must therefore coerce my fellow rosity members into becoming virtual cobblers ;)

Same problems here - 'too many connection' warnings, extremely sluggish navigation, and for the last two days I haven't been able to get the Poser forum to open at all.

Berserga - I totally agree with you about Mask-das F-308. It's the first time I've ever bought an item that I had absolutely no use for! Knowing the quality of his modelling I was just facinated to see what I'd get for $5, and as you know, the answer is a prop that could feasibly be sold for three or four times as much. Outstanding value. - Graham Just been to his site and he's got free MTs for sliding the Ferrari's seat back and forwards :) http://mdp.s18.xrea.com/

LOL, I have my 'Wrong Trousers' ceramic desk tidy sitting right next to me - check out Ernie's boots for a clear case of, er... inspiration ;)
I was thinking of equipping him with a recharging probe, but then I would have had to hit the nudity flag :)
BTW, pdxjims is currently in the process of poserizing him - cheers mate :)
Umm, is three emoticons in three sentences a sign of mental instability? :
