Bryce volume light has a rendering error. It happens when you have a volume light and another light (non-volume). If a shadow generated from the non-volume light hits on the volume light that volume light part gets cut off.
Thread: Animation......how to make object disappear? | Forum: Bryce
Here's one tip about transparency: when your object is 100% transparent move it behind camera. For some reason Bryce's rendering engine still renders it and the render takes a lot longer even when there's nothing. When you move it away render finishes faster.
Thread: Poser figures in Bryce confusion | Forum: Bryce
If you import Poser figures as DXF or 3DS they will need smoothing. Use OBJ format instead when exporting from Poser to Bryce. ------------ Susanna: Poser Animations to Bryce 4/5 www.datamike.com/susu.htm

KenS: Please ask Corel if they could fix volume rendering errors. When two volume objects intersect the intersect area is looks bad. When volume ligh is shone through volume object it looks really bad. The volume rendering errors have been around since volume materials were introduced in Bryce and nothing seems to be have been done about it. Also metaballs still have the black edge when intersected with terrains and both having bump mapped material.
Thread: metaball secrets | Forum: Bryce
Well, metaballs don't seem to accept volume materials BUT if you place a metaball at the center of Bryce universe you can apply and see volume material rendered. Not much use though since if you move it away the material effect is lost. Damn, I hoped they fix it soon. ------------ Susanna: Poser Animations to Bryce 4/5 www.datamike.com/susu.htm
Thread: Volumetric Light | Forum: Bryce
Your best bet i to try "Volumetric world" setting. Unfortunately this very time consuming. I have yet to see even a render time estimate on simple scenes. Add a couple of volumetric clouds and probably the render times are a couple of years per picture :( Use volumetric lights? Unfortunately they work badly with volumetric objects. I just hope Corel would correct glaring rendering errors with volumetric objects, lights and metaballs.
Thread: bryce meshes to a different format | Forum: Bryce
Anthony, I read that Clay (the moderator) had tried to un-decipher OBP format. Perhaps he can help. I cannot see why Corel does not seem to want open Bryce to third party developers. Makers of any other 3d package bend over backward trying to woo 3rd parties to create add-ons.

If you want to link Poser Animation and Bryce I have a plug-in for that: "Susanna Poser Animations to Bryce" Check out www.datamike.com/susu.htm
Thread: animation help | Forum: Bryce
Hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift and press Remove keyframe button (the "-" at bottom of bryce selection palette). It will remove all keyframes. Use it carefully since it cannot be undone. This is "undocumented" feature. Otherwise take a look at Bryce AML system. ------------ Susanna: Poser Animations to Bryce 4/5 www.datamike.com/susu.htm

Of course. You can also mix in Bryce materials. Material can also be animated. Check out the two girls running movie. Both girls use Poser textures, bump maps whatever & Bryce materials which slowly turn transparent as they run up a hill. When setting up a scene you first import a Poser figure. Then modify material to your liking. Often Poser textures need tweaking to look good. Then material settings are saved and the animation process in started. Susanna will use whatever materials you saved.
Thread: Metaballs and Volume | Forum: Bryce
Metaballs don't seem to work with volu material - except if the metaball is palce right in the center of ground zero in Bryce. That don't help much -if anything. I found out about it accidentally.

The link was down so I could not view the avi. Can you post a couple JPGs that demontrate the problem in Poser.
