Contact Support with steps to duplicate the Camera Issue. Had another user report the issue, but after checking for updates for his input device (changed device because there were no Lion Drivers available) the Camera Issue was no longer present.
Make the Subject Attn: John.. Lion Camera Issue..
For the Carrara Issue, is that something wrong with the saved files, Carrara, or Lion itself..

With the last updates for Poser 5 and in all versions of Poser 6 and Poser 7, as well as Poser Pro... There is no impact on performance for leaving the Content Tab as is, unless you actually go to the Content Tab. All it does is link to your Browser when you click on it.

Thread: Lion and Poser on the Mac | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The only issue that I know of is related to Icons in the Library not displaying, but the Mouse Over still works, so you can figure out where you want to go...
The other issue is related to permissions and only affects Activation.
BEFORE launching your freshly-installed copy of Poser (Debut, Poser 8 or Pro 2010), browse into the root Library/Application Support folder and create a folder for your copy of Poser- 'Poser', 'Poser Pro', or 'Poser Debut'. You'll need to provide an admin password to do this.
Launch and serialize Poser normally- you won't be able to see the category icons in the library pane but the mouseover category names should work.
1a. If you have launched Poser and entered a serial number and are now seeing Poser crash on launch, the first thing to do is to open System Preferences, go to the General pane and turn off the 'launch to previous state' option.
2a. Now go create the 'Poser', 'Poser Pro' or 'Poser Debut' folder as described in (1) above
3a. Launch and serialize Poser
4a. Now if you like you can reactivate Lion's 'launch to previous state' option.
Anyone that encounters other issues, please contact Support with details. Put Attn: John, Lion Issue in the Subject.
Thanks

The Icon Issue with the Library is due to the new OS. The Mouse Over still works, so if you forgot the order of the Icons, you can still figure it out...
The bigger issue is Activation. Changes in permissions with the new OS require some special steps to Activate.

Thread: does poser 8 work in new mac Lion os | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes it does.. but with some minor issues, such as the Icon in the Library not showing.. the Mouse over still works, so you can locate the Category if you do not remember the order by mousing over the Placeholders.
Activating Poser on Lion has its own issue, but once Activated, there should be no other issues.
The issue has to do with permission changes in the Mac OS. Here are the steps to activate the software after installing.

Anyone that encounters other issues, please contact Support with details. Put Attn: John in the Subject along with Lion Issues.

Thread: Pro 2010 library 'fault'? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - ratscloset - I didn't report it as doing a system restore (after much hair-pulling and muttering) finally resolved the issue. The problem seems to be due to Mcafee, which froze my computer when I tried to uninstall it (uninstalling McAfee was a recommended fix for the Poser library fault). McAfee came right back through the system restore but so far it's behaved. Should I still report this incident? I would LOVE that this couldn't happen again because of that dreaded McAfee's proprieties.
Linda
If you resolved the issue, no worries, unless you know exactly what caused the issue with McAfee... there was an issue at one time with Privacy feature on McAfee, which did not allow anything, other than McAfee to access the Local Host on the system, but my understanding is McAfee fixed that.
Generally, Security Software is the biggest cause of issues. One tip I tell users is to turn on the Prompt before the software takes an action. This can be annoying, but it also lets you know both what the software is wanting to block and that you have encountered something the software wants to block. I use the second, myself, to determine if I proceed (too many prompts, I stop) I look at the Prompt as education!
Much of the information we have on 3rd Party software issues comes from users reporting a problem and locating the solution.
For other users that do encounter issues, whether this or something else, If you are not sure of the cause, we have some tests that users can use to isolate the cause, or at least eliminate the innocent!

MtnMist.. Contact Support, if you have not already (Sitemail me the Incident Number)
As BB said, this is almost always a permission issue and can be narrowed down with some more information.

Second page, maybe third, so it may be a dead horse, but...
Contacting Support is easy... .
or
Most messages are responded to that same Business Day... Messages after hours are considered the next Business Day. Business Day is Pacific Time Zone, Monday through Friday during normal Business Hours.
Downloading... The Servers are Secure, so turn off the Download Accelerators, they will slow it down, and may cause failure.
Do not run your Virus Scan with the setting to Scan on Download... turn off Scan on Download or set to Scan upon completion.
Hardwire to your Router/Modem... Wireless is great, but not perfect, especially when downloading.
If you get a corrupted or failed attempt, empty the cache before attempting again. You may also try renaming the file. Some Download Managers are persistant and will use that corrupted bit with the subsequent attempts.
There are three stores... Store.SmithMicro.com, www.ContentParadise.com and My.SmithMicro.com

You can not redistribute the files even if free.. please read the EULA for Poser Content and the EULA in third party content. In most all cases, you can not redistribute (free or otherwise) the files or derivatives of the files.
NOTE: Poser Pro contains two figures which have a special EULA that allows for redistribution in games, provided the files can not be extracted. You may want to consider using Poser Pro 2010 in your workflow.

Thread: OT? – SmithMicro stock drops 22% today. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, there is a Pool Table in the Break Room (but little used from the looks)
No Massages (unless you count the small vibration from rolling my chair with one bad wheel over the floor a massage)
No Free lunch delivered to the cubicles.. But there are some great Sushi Restruants near the Aliso Viejo Office (All you can eat Sushi for $22.00 was great.. but I was miserable the next day!)
No Segways, but you could ask the Warehouse for a ride on the Hand Truck!
Climate is nice to visit in AV.. Poser Team is up near San Fransisco... me, I like my Hot and Humid of the greater part of the year, could do without the Cold and Damp of the other part of the year.
Skiing and Surfing.. Okay, yes it is there in both places.
Sweet Bosses... They are good and fair, sweet might not be a good term (they may think they need to change, and then where would we be)
Bring your dog to work... well yes.. it does happen (I have my Parrot on my shoulder right now.. working on teaching him to bark)
Everyday is Casual Friday... No, this is not true... It is Casual Monday, Casual Tuesday, Casual Wednesday, Casual Thursday, and Casual Friday. (Most that means Khaki and T Shirts or Button Down with no tie.. some it means Shorts and Flip Flops... others it means Swimsuit in the Summer.. not saying any names, but he has a Parrot on his shoulder right now.)
Generally, stock drops give investment opportunity to all! I think the Anyalist reports explain why this happened this time.

Thread: poser 8 upgrade but can't use it as it wont accept my the serial no any help ple | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - i thought I would ask here as its often faster and some has gone through the same problem.
I have upgraded from poser7 to 8 and when trying to open poser8 it requests the serial and asks you to imput the old serial if upgrading as I am.
but I can only input this serial into the new serial section so the result is my serial is not accepted.
if I could just be able to type or paste it into the right section it would maybe work
Any suggestions as I am terrified of trying to get help from smithmicro
cheers Rowlando
If you purchased the Upgrade online from Smith Micro, you do not need to enter the old code (that is why it is disabled) You entered it when purchasing.
Do not be afraid to ask for help from Smith Micro Support.. we do not bite (at least not hard!) You can always create your incident with the subject "Attn: John" and I should get the incident.
