Well, just for the record, I want to mention again that I know a coder who's working on an app which will automatically adjust the .mtl file exported with textured Poser characters to fool Vue into thinking the textures are in the same folder, and load them accordingly-- it's essentially an automatic mtl editor. All without time consuming texture loading or HD-wasting copies. :) I hope it's soon. As it is, I hate having to do any of the choices, and I think it would have been super for Vue to at least give us the option of locating any missing textures upon loading the object. Bryce does it--- why can't Vue? Cheers, Mike

Correct. Characters take on their look through changing the morph dials. Your textures are just that-- textures, and will not change, say the shape of the face. The reasoning behind "parenting" an object or prop is to keep it "stuck" on the character through turns and twists and general posing. You have to first position the prop where you want it, and then parent it. You can still move it after you parent it, but if you move the hand the ring is on, the ring will stay in place on the hand.

Are you sure it wasn't that you had "texture changes apply to entire figure" on the lamp before exporting? Hey, here's one for you: Export a Poser torus as .obj and open it in Vue and see what happens. Cheers, Mike

Guitta, are you SURE you don't work for E-on? LOL Great answer... if this and the demo doesn't sell Zhukov on Vue, nothing will. Zhukov, If you get the demo, make sure you check out the tutorials for Vue, right here at Renderosity in the tutorials section, which can be found in the menu at the upper right of your screen under the category of "Features". Then navigate to the selection, "Vue" (We still don't have a "d'Esprit" there yet). Cheers, Mike

Cool. That sounds like a great idea. I used to have a Yahoo website, but I just couldn't stand it. Now, if I can only get my own website going! my ISP gives me 10 MB's, which is probably enough, though they have none of that "web building" stuff. Oh well. Thanks from me, too, Michael Wagner! Mike

Zhukov, Try this site: http://www.e-onsoftware.com Look through the "Picture Of The Day" galleries. They also have a free demo which will allow you to save renders, though no larger than 640x480, and it times out after 30 days. After Poser 4, I consider it (Vue d'Esprit 3.1) to be my second smartest purchase. Cheers, MikeThread: Saving Morphs? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Thank you, Dagon, I'll try that. You just caused me to remember that I already have Morph Squeeze, but had forgotten about it. When you say to load the .obj geometry, do you mean the geometry for the entire figure, or just the geometry for the part in question? Because I have that too, since most of my morphs were done outside of Poser. Thanks! Cheers, Mike

No problem, Varian. 64 MODELS!! You don't sleep, do you? I think someone asked you that before, for that matter. ;) Well, I for one will be watching out for them. I haven't tried much modelling in Vue, so you realize you're gonna need a tutorial or two to go along with your models. ;) I'm looking forward to seeing what kinds of models can be created with Vue. The boolean techniques work pretty well, I think, but so far I've done only simple stuff. Well, I'm rambling now.... C-ya later! cheers, Mike

Jeff, yeah, do so. These are very good morph targets, if I do say so myself. Probably best suited for animation, and CM/JCM applications. I'm hoping to get some feedback, which is rather rare, but is why I also mentioned it here. And what I mean is that I want to know what's WRONG, not what's right. As a very wise ex-boss of mine once said, "You can't do anything about what's good; it's the wrong stuff which needs attention." Cheers, Mike

Hey, Rcook has "waved the magic wand", and it is done. Not only has the "Vue" name in the tutorials section been changed to "Vue d'Esprit", but the whole tutorial section is now called "Digital Arts Tutorials"... or something like that (also my idea, BTW :) ). Cheers, Mike

And most definitely a big thank you to you, too! Not only for that , but for changing the Vue d'Esprit listing as well. Thank you, Rcook-- you are Webmaster Extraordinaire! I doubt I spelled that right, though, but you get the idea. ;) Cheers, Mike

Gotcha! Yes, definitely, Guittta's are very good, and very useful, not to mention unique approaches to things which I would never have thought of. Yours' too, particularly the technique of making new trees from existing ones by combining them. I hope maybe one day I'll have some of my own to contribute. :) As Bloodsong once mentioned, we really need some "function" tutorials, hint hint. I've found a few here and there from other sources, and I'm going to be emailing the authors to see if they can be posted here, as well. Soon as I get it all compiled, that is. BTW, I asked in the Moderators' Forum about having the names changed. It's just a matter of waiting now. :) Cheers, Mike
Thread: Vue d'Esprit Tutorials? | Forum: Vue
Varian, Thank you (see new message!) I'll do that. I was going to ask them to change it, but I figured I'd wait, but what the hell, I'll do it now. :) I noticed the introduction, too, and wondered the same thing, so I'll mention that too. Watch for updates! Thanks again. We ALL benefit from your hard work and dedication to not only Vue, but graphic art as a whole. :) Cheers, Mike
Thread: POSSIBLE VIRUS ALERT | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Slowly but surely I am using less and less Microsu*k stuff. :) Why anybody insists on using Outlook is beyond me, and ESPECIALLY corporations! I mean, it's BECAUSE of that that all the virus peddlers use Outlook! Oh well...maybe y'all ought to issue a policy that anyone opening an attachment with .vbs will be immediately fired! Cheers, Mike
