yeah..was afraid I was repeating myself..but thought the program could be of use as a converter, if not an actual modeller (have 4.15, but the 'snap to grid' bit was driving me nuts..maybe they fixed it by 5.15..;)

Thread: Is it Really that simple? | Forum: Bryce
well, it's kind of a double-edged sword..the caption above the comments read 'suggestions for improvements'..and some folks take that literally. Sometimes they're helpful, and you might even learn something (thanks to the hardy souls who gave me the tips on my last, BTW..;). Sometimes the comments can just be wrong (done that, and retracted same, more than once..;). Rarely are they actually any sort of attack..and you'll find that often the attackers don't have any gallery of their own (just a personal observation..;) to respond to.
Don't take any of it personally..consider what they're saying..and just figure if it's worth trying out what they say or not. Whenever I've made a suggestion, and it's taken, I usually stop by the repost and comment favorably. I think it's a good pic, personally, I'd probably brighten up the laser beams and expand the diameter to match the ports on the mechs, but..see what I mean? Personal preference..and I didn't mean anything bad, just an observation. Keep at it..you got something going there...

Thread: Where I Found | Forum: Bryce
are you asking or telling?..;) there's mat sites all over, depending on what you're looking for. Uh, not exactly sure..but if you got a zip file, maybe, just maybe (not usually) there's a 'readme' file, and they might (not often enough) will tell you who they are, and where their site was when they made the mat.
I remember a Bryce 'tree fix' to get the kinks out of Bryce trunks..but that's probably not it. Also, many folks (more likely) will, if you already have the mat, will have their name pop up when you select the mat in Bryce. If that's what you're asking for. Here's a coupla quick places to look for mats in general. lunariad.com wolfie's den (uh..don't have the URL, but a search should get it) Tony Lynch designs (I'm not sure if these are mats or not, but he's got most of the woods covered, if I remember correctly) If I got anywhere near what you actually wanted, let me know..;)

unless it's made of Bryce primitives, in which case it won't work..que lastima. You can export terrains, if it's made of that.

and it should be arriving in the US..about mid-April. I think it's also in either 3d world or Digit or Computer for current delivery to these parts.

Thread: Purists vs Importers: The final conflict (hopefully) | Forum: Bryce
Playing Devil's Advocate for a sec..sometimes, the 'limitations' you get from just using the one program can force you to be creative in ways that imports (wherever they're from) don't lead you to.
I've been cheatin' like a sumbich with Doga L, but once I've got the model (well, I assembled it..;) in, I spend a lot more time working with lighting, textures (the more I get, the pickier I get..go figure)..I spend more time trying things in Bryce than ever I do in making the model in the first place. I've created a few things in Bryce, but since you can't export Booleans, they're by nature 1-shot deals.
I still think the end result is what counts. Somewhere, there's some painter deriding all the other painters who don't handcraft their brushes..that way madness lies..to those who don't know all our little 'secrets', they see a good picture. It's personal preference, work the way that most pleases you.

haven't fired one of these in almost 10 years (at a firing range, I'm no Rambo..;), but isn't there a protrusion on the part the ejects the spent round, or am I just misremembering again..;) Looks good to me, could you section a torus and flatten it to make the magazine?..just curious..
