I have experience making content for SL. With the exception of textures and animations SL does not import anything, everything is made in world. All avatars are based on two basic models which are morphed, similar to Poser figures. (This doesn't include avatars with 3d prop attachments which are made in world)
Most clothing in SL is just trans mapped textures applied to clothing layers built into these base models.
Poser can be used to make animations... (Walks, dances... ahem... other things...) You Make your anim then export a BVH for upload to SL, but that is about the extent of synergy between the 2 programs.

Quote - Anybody remember ugly, old Dinah? Didn't think so. And she was a heck of a lot prettier than Clark.
First off it's Dina, and I remember her plenty well, just used her commercially not more than a month ago. Dina was a damn good model I dunno shit about Clark or Maximus,. But I do know that Anton is acting like a world class wanker.

Adressing the idea of EF selling Poser... Poppycock!
My impression is that this company is very committed to the product and has done something that the previous companies haven't been able to do: Break into the content market! If they do neglect further SRs in favor of developing a far more FUNDAMENTALLY stable product in P7, I couldn't be happier, as IMO P6 is quite stable for such an inexpensive app. (For most users)
As far as P6 being slow or unstable, If you actually take a minute to learn how to adjust the settings, and have a computer made in this century then your performance should be quite good.
I'll admit P6's stability CAN go bad... This is usually related to general system stability... I've noticed that P6 is the most sensitive app that I have ever used to bad computer maintainance. Defrag your hard drive, and reformat at least once a year and you should be good.
EDIT: OK consider this my first Forum complaint.... YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY make paragraph breaks? GEEEEEZ

Sizing Vicky hair to fit on Dina is extremely easy... The problem you mentioned is a bug and can affect hair even on it's NATIVE model. Sizing hair in general to other figures is easy... I just used the M3/David "Morning hair" from Daz, on V2, and it looks great. I've taken to using Dina again lately... If ya can manage to pretty her up she is a great figure. She has problems, being such an ancient figure though, particularly in the shoulder and elbow joints. Still I like using her.

If you have professional aspirations, beyond the occasional independant job, or doing adult web comics. :) You might consider an industry standard app like Lightwave or Maya. Lightwave is a fine choice if that's the case. It's very affordable, relatively easy to learn and used EXTENSIVELY in TV production (as well as budget conscious film making). It does more out "out of the box" than any other app in it's price range. That being said learning a serious 3d app like Lightwave will require a serious time commitment and tons of practice. Expect to take a couple of years to get really profficient. Now if you are interested in 3d as a hobby, or are just interested in making a few extra bucks doing commercial art. Poser is very up to the challenge, and can create really great renders. Then maybe if you decide to try modelling, you could try something free, or cheap like Wings, blender, etc... They can model characters for use in poser just as well as a higher end app.

Do you have ICQ? If so PM me your number. (ICQ is great) I'm the same way about PMs, :) But if I know to expect one that's different.

I have the OST, I had tried to get it for years, but it was out of print Then I found it at a con in 1999, apperantly it was reissued. It's a good CD, my favorite track is the crunchy guitar that plays when they steal the Garland in the underground. (I've had the vocal collection since 1992, so I didn't worry too much about the vocal tracks on it) If you can't find a copy of the CD PM me and I'll see if I can "help you". That might be a good idea anyway as this thread has become a personal conversation anyway :D

Yeah that flying thing was what I was talking about. :) When I first saw that footage on my LD set I thought the same thing that you did, that it was "a lost ending" :) BTW If you haven't got it yet, you should get the DVD release of MZ 23 2 from ADV, it is so much better than that old dub... though I have a certain affection for it having watched it many times... (It's in the Japanese LD box as an extra.) My favorite humorous part about that dub is when a guy says, "It's too noisy in here" while playing pool... but in the dub version the crowd noise is completely missing. ^_^ That and the fact that they changed Shogo, and Yui, to Jhonny and Suzie. :D

That footage doesn't have any dialog right, and tacks a happy ending onto megazone? IIRC That footage was comissioned by Harmony gold to give RT the movie an upbeat ending.

I'm a big BGC fan too... I have all the CDs from BGC and crash, but am missing AD police CDs 2-3 :( IMO MZ 23 part 3 is an attrocity. It is a miracle that they let Shinji Arimaki direct again after that. MZ 23 and the Dirty Pair OVAs are both out on DVD here now and are dirt cheap. In case you didn't know... A Transforming Garland, now that could be cool! UNLESS it's the one from the footage they added to MZ 23 to create Robotech the movie :)

Nice selection of books there, I have several of em myself. Cool that you mentioned MZ 23 as it's one of my all time favorite shows. What book do you have? I have the MZ 23 best hit series book which IIRC has a nude poster of eve in it.
Hehe glad that ya noticed the Macross print set. I bought that at Animecon 91. It was one of the first anime items I ever bought. On the left you can see the Southern Cross print set, which came exlusively with the Japanese Laserdisk box.
I'm almost as obsessive about Dirty Pair as I am Macross. ^_^

Poser 6 was such a huge usability upgrade, I am pretty likely to upgrade if EF keeps up the good work.
