Thread: Does Anyone Have AdobePhoto Deluxe? | Forum: Photography
I don't get an error message, my thumbnail just comes in with a red X, and usually i have to delet the post because the site won't let me edit it. but like i said, it's not that big of a deal especially if i'm the only one so far that is having this type of issue. i'll just cont. posting and edit to apply the thumb. but if anyone comes up with some sort of solution i'm all ears

I actually have been using the save for web button, i actually think you might have helped me out when i first had this problem but i still haven't figured out how and why i can't post thumbs and my image at the same time. I just say whatever, what i'm doing works it just takes a couple extra minutes. if anyone has any other ideas i'm always willing to try.

I've always had this problem, like ratto i use PS Elements and I have to do the same thing that pat does. i upload my image, once it takes i upload the thumb. kinda a pain but it does work. i have to try what ratto suggested and toggle off the preview option.
Thread: tft moniters | Forum: Photography
At work i'm on a Sony Multiscan (Trinitron) and at home i use a Dell. The Sony is so nice but it's huge. would'nt everything come down to your video card anyway. sure a nice big monitor is important but with out some extra video output it doesn't matter what kind of monitor you get. but it all comes down to personal preferance and requirments. I know i didn't answere your question but just added to your delema. Good Luck.
Thread: A suggestion to improve the gallery......... | Forum: Photography
I never rank, what does it accomplish. When I comment, I always try to make a Good comment stating what I like about the image but after, I try to leave some bit of something I see could be improved. Maybe not improved, more like something to think about the next time the person tries to take the same sort of shot. Cyn, I liked the toilet shot. I think it's interesting to see and document what a nasty race we are, polluting our own soil. I have a couple interesting shots of fishing line just thrown on the ground by some ignorant people, and a beautiful little pond with tires all over the place, and another with a dead baby fox half decomposed. A photo is a photo, The subject matter doesn't always have to be beautiful sunsets and scantily clad women, It's all about composition, sharpness, and colors. And personally I think the majority if not all of your work falls right on my three criteria. As for you Michelle WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, just kidding. I agree, maybe the Hot 20 doesn't make us better photographers, but it does give us a reason to post our best works. Maybe if there were some sort of group who would use those images for whatever purpose (news letters, web pages....) and If the artist chose to offer the image for free it would give a bit of incentive. Something like the person or company would ask the artist if they could use there image, and it would be the artists choice to give it, any additional works would cost. I don't really know how all that works so I'm just throwing out possibilities. CHA CHING my 2 cents

I'm just saying, I personally think if you don't take the time to honestly let people know what you think of there work what makes you think your gonna get any honesty back. And if more people took the one vote suggestion you might see your work up there, otherwise we are just posting images and promoting snap shots by looking the other way.

I kinda agree with all of you, I like the Hot 20. I don't really check it out all that much because I don't think any of my photos are in there, but it's something extra to go for. And I agree, how many of us actually vote on photos. I don't all the time because.......you know what, I don't know why. what, does it take a whole 10 seconds to cast a vote. So I'm going to make a kinda suggestion that when ever we cruz through the gallery we vote at least once on the most deserving picture we see. We are not limited to the number of votes we make, are we? Or is it that no one sees photos worth voting for, that's what it looks like. Star I personally try my hardest to post my best works but everyone here is of different abilities, agreed there are some snap shot photos but that's just some of us sharing a piece of ourselves to maybe let everyone have an idea who we as a person are. As I told a friend these galleries are more than just places to post our work, we are a society of artists striving to improve our skills and lead a hand to the others around us who might look up to you and your vision. To snob around would be a bad reflection of ourselves and bring down your own abilities. I believe you get out what you put in, so be careful how you treat others.
Thread: what do you shoot with? | Forum: Photography
I use a Nikon, Nikkormat, it's older but I love the fact that's fully manual. It makes me feel like an artist. Having the possibilities of coming up with bad shots, makes me pay more attention to what I'm shotting. But there are all sorts of advantages and dissadvantages, cost all around is the biggest, but hell it shouldn't be. Don't limit yourself to price, it's only money and you can't take it with you so enjoy that hard work somehow.
Thread: Hmmm... Which one? Part 2 | Forum: Photography
I like the second one. The first one just seems too green. the second one (Blk.+ Wht.?) just has more of a color variation and feels more old timeish. like photos from the old west.

Thread: First scan with a Epson 2450 | Forum: Photography
I've been wanting a medium format camera, unfortunately I need a quality printer. I hear Chuck, but I use compressed air to clean off the slide or neg. before I scan. Nice color and detail, expecting to see some good stuff.
Thread: Developing....What Do You Do? | Forum: Photography
I'm fairly new to all of this myself, when I started I would have prints made from my negatives but the cost was starting to sway me away from photography. Luckily I recieved an awsome B-day present from my parents, sister and girlfiend which was a Pacific Image 3600 Pro. This was probably the savior of my picture taking. Now I just get cut negatives (1/4 the price) and scan the images i like the best, I save the full size images (20-50 megs)to a cd and keep the cropped and resized images on my HD. I was thinking of asking if i could get 1 print with the 24 images on it, thumbnail size, which will give me a chance to see what my developers can do and make my final printing decisions from there. A quality printer is my next purchase. I think the important thing is to find a good place who care how the final product will turn out.
