heyas; haven't decided one way or the other if i'm leaving or not. if you are, though, you can still find all my free vue goodies at my site: www.3dmenagerie.com (click on the goodies link and snoop around for the vue stuff. :) )

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Mon, 18 September 2000 at 7:25 PM

Thanks for the heads up info, Bloodsong. I'm still sitting on the fence myself. You know what I find interesting in all this? Not a lot of hoorah here in the Vue forum. Are we more laid back than the others? Or are we just more practical in our realization that no matter what happens today, we'll find somewhere to be tomorrow? Kate (who really enjoys the peace and quiet and the lack of political backbiting in here)

silverbranch ( ) posted Mon, 18 September 2000 at 7:29 PM

Always good stuff there. I didn't have any real loyalties to Jack and Ed, but the guy who is apparently the new king has seriously turned me off. Rudeness and censorship isn't going to heal the breach, ya know? And just alienates the middle-grounders like me. Anyway, I'll try and get reinvolved with the Vue Forum on Egroups. Geez, I take a month or two off from 3d and look what happens! Gail

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Mon, 18 September 2000 at 8:11 PM

Can't turn yer back on this bunch for a second, can ya, Gail? wink Kate (going back to watching all the fireworks...oooh...look at the purty colors!!)

Hi Bloodsong, I think we just have to let things be and let it be a "live and let die" situation....whatever the last story line be before we see the word "The End". I have nothing against what is going here but its been pretty 'unhealthy' now. We do have other places to meet and share, not forgetting the list of Vue Web Ring from Karl Martin. Vue will live on for a long long time to come no matter how competitive the future for it will be. There will always be a place fo Vue and you bet one way or another, most Vue user be there. If you choose to leave or may be not, just make sure we all still get together just like what it use to be. Just want you to know you are needed. Also note that Artomania is not dead but just being 'deserted' for a while. Henrik is just too busy with big big $s project and I can understand that. Bill Tesign

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Tue, 19 September 2000 at 1:16 AM

Glad to hear Henrik is still around, Bill.

Thanks for the input bloodsong. It is a shame that things are ending up in a seemingly unsavoury manner. I am glad to see that your site is still up and that you are still offering your tutes and goodies. It has become a regular haunt for me. I hope that things will sort themselves out (in the best possible way for vue users) soon. Sacred

black-canary ( ) posted Tue, 19 September 2000 at 11:49 AM

Hey everyone, I just want to say that this PARTICULAR vue resource is what led me to buy vue. People come to this site for a zillion types of software, and glancing through the galleries is a lot of people's first introduction to vue d'esprit. Really until very recently I saw stuff in the zygote gallery, and here, that showed vue images instead of the omnipresent bryce and poser renders. That's one of the better things about r'osity (and there are many not-better things, lol!); it provides a front door to all types of apps, so you hear of things you otherwise wouldn't, and you get to see things in action before you buy them. So a "niche" app without a ton of word of mouth (yet!) like Vue can really benefit by association. Which isn't to say that the egroups list isn't also essential, because it is...but you have to know what Vue is to find the list, y'know? Mary chandracrater@yahoo.com

rain ( ) posted Tue, 19 September 2000 at 12:20 PM

Mary, I agree with you. It was the Vue galleries and this forum that convinced me to try out (and then buy) the program (which I love). I'm sorry about what's going on with Renderosity right now but have felt it coming for the past few months. Bloodsong, glad to hear that you're staying around for now. I hope things will work out and you'll continue to be here. Claire

edarsenal ( ) posted Tue, 19 September 2000 at 1:17 PM

hey blood! it does my heart good that you, clintH and FastTrax are being placed as moderators. it also made me feel good to see a forum stick to what it is for, the application itself. A change has occured. The staff has changed. That happens. but the disenssion(sp?) is absolutely heart breaking. I wish you well, blood, i truly do. And i hope to see ya around my very dear friend. And to any who continues to visit here. Take care and enjoy the resources this place has, and will continue to offer. hey kate, how ya doin', darlin'? This is a time to continue and move on. Vue IS an amazing application, jack picked it up just recently. and with this little break between now and our new site, i might actually find some time to play with it and other art programs.... ::smirks:: that should a blast! take care all, and cya!! ed

bloodsong ( ) posted Tue, 19 September 2000 at 7:43 PM

heyas; what? a fan? do i have a fan? sacred rose?? :) hd: oh, i decided not to post the new eagle jp's until i messed with the toe jp's to bend them at the base of the foot. that is, if i ended up doing that and liking it better. hey, the vue forum NEVER gets into trouble! no politics... no cussing, no pornography, no hackers, no spammers, no warez pirates.... man, this is the easiest job i ever had! ;) (now don't be going and helping me out, making my life more exciting, like you guys did LAST time!!!) and ed, butterbumpkin.... what makes you think i WON'T be following you and jack around to your new site??? (though if you keep calling me 'darlin'' maybe i won't! :) ) (oh wait, you called kate a 'darlin''. well, now i'm jealous! (not!) :) ) (and drat, you let them know i am moderator again. i was gonna try to let it sneak past 'em this time....! ::sigh::) :) anyway, the political/managerial upheaval probably won't affect the forum/gallery/free stuff setups ('cept the people leaving and pulling stuff); so the vue forum will probably come out.... looking pretty much the same.

Sacred Rose ( ) posted Tue, 19 September 2000 at 8:21 PM

Actually, I saw more than one fan on your site if I remember correctly :-) But yes.....I am another of your fans :-) Damn! R u a moderator here? ;-) LOL In all honesty, I am absolutely stoked by the various amazing talents I have seen in the vue forums, which by the way, is what led me to the e-group and other sites relating to Vue! I hope we will all continue to learn and help each other, regardless of venue, as all graphic artists should :-).......oooops, did I say graphics artists? I meant (for me personally) for aspiring artists to learn from these professionals....this would be an unparralleled highlight in the journey of learning. Sacred

Heya Bloodsong, I think it's great to see you and FastTraxx as mods here. Lets me know that there's still folks involved that are interested in what we're here for, rather than petty bickering. I'm afraid I'm not a vue user, but I'd like to hang out here and browse and ask questions if ya'll don't mind...

Peer no more Ironbear and she's no kiddo either. You can see and zoom into her if you want....she sitting pretty at the members gallery. She looks like a "fairy Godmother"...well may be a shrewd one going around knocking onto people's head with her magic wand...hmmm, she got a "staff" too! In case you people do not know what that is (which I did not), she would tell you. Bill

LOL... I've seen her members post. But, been my experience that theres no better way to keep from getting smacked with the "Knitting bag 'o doom" than calling a sweet old lady a sweet young lady. It never fools 'em, but out of admiration for yer outrageous blarney they let ya skip back out of range afore they swing at yer head.

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Wed, 20 September 2000 at 2:30 PM

Pay no attention to that woman behind the curtain (Claire). Vue is harmless...harmless I tell you...not even close to addictive...no, really...I promise... hehehehehe Kate (Hi Claire!)

Ironbear ( ) posted Wed, 20 September 2000 at 4:12 PM

Heya Bloodsong we're not ignoring you, really... just don't want you to haveta buy new hats cause of all this attention. heh heh. You said the magic word (Not THAT magic word, durn it!): FREE! I'll have to go check it out. If you don't see me for a few weeks, Kate: You'll know it really wasn't addictive. chuckle Yeah, I've seen some absolutely stunning renders in the 'vue gallery, rain. I've been wondering about the program for a while now.

Harmless!? Don't believe Kate! :-) (Hi Kate!) I've developed some sort of hand/arm problem from playing with the damn program. It's hard to leave it alone. The pictures just turn out so darn good. My doctor told me that I had a condition that drunks usually get from falling asleep on their arm :-)And I don't drink! Go and get it, Ironbear....but you have been warned :-) Claire

Daffy34 ( ) posted Wed, 20 September 2000 at 7:36 PM

On a subtopic: I just wanted to let everyone know that I pulled all my free stuff and art galleries, but only because I was in doubt as to what would be done with them. When all this blows over I may repost them. Anyway, you can still breeze over to Big-i.com and get some of my stuff (which I post only to Big-i I might add, and so would never have been seen on this site anyway) and see my gallery and also on my own website (which is still a work-in-progress). www.geocities.com/l_a_allen/index.html Take care all, Laurie P.S. Bloodsong, it's great to see you still here. Don't know what I'd do without your gems of wisdom ;) And, of course, your swans....LOL.

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 21 September 2000 at 6:51 PM

heyas; i'm glad to see you, too, daffy! gotta ask you something. :) (never mind you nosy people, i'm gonna email daffy!) ignoring me is good. just keep on posting, nice and easy... yeah, that's good. not only do i have throngs of adoring fans, but i made vue one of the more active forums. yeah, won't that look good on my resume'?? :)

Sacred Rose ( ) posted Thu, 21 September 2000 at 7:16 PM

LOL Typical of a Moderator! grin IronBear......Vue is a quietly assuming program...It kinda sneaks up on you when you least expect it to. One day, you find that your eyes are square (from looking at the monitor for so long) your backside is square from sitting so long watching your last render, and your mouth can only utter two words :Vue d'Esprit. There is no cure for the affliction. It is an awesome feeling, and we have set up a support group for it. Better than AA ;-) We don't utilize 12 steps but we do provide tutorials, tips and know-how to assist those who are addicted to it. In time, the manufacturers may provide a better remedy...I hear it's Vue 4. Can't wait to see the benefits of it :D (yes doctor...I'm coming, I haven't forgotten my fitting for that purdy white coat with all the ties and buckles that will give me comfort) Once again heed the warnings, and try it out carefully, or u too may need 'help' grinning madly Sacred

Daffy34 ( ) posted Thu, 21 September 2000 at 7:58 PM

Hello. My name is Laurie....and I'm an addict. Beware the Vue! Side effects may include: sleeplessness, blurred vision, an increase in creativity and euphoria. If you have any of these symptoms, please see Vue d'Esprit immediately! One illness where "falling off the wagon" can be a good thing :) Ta ta, Laurie

Ironbear ( ) posted Thu, 21 September 2000 at 8:05 PM

Way cool, folks... ya'll are so nice you made me blush (hard to do) and laugh (easy to do). It's nice to wander in out of the rubble and find some folks who are still doing art here. Drop into the tavern, hit any post and I'll stand everyone a round. Or two... Or three. I'm definately going to get the demo, probably the program so that one day I too can say "Hi. I'm Ironbear and I'm addicted. Relief, no thanks... don't need to quit, I don't have a problem..." Heh heh. Soon as I wade through the rest of the stuff i'm doing, and do so, I'll come back and ask lots of REALLY ignorant questions so all of you can feel helpful, ko? Cheers!

bloodsong, I seem to have somehow missed this thread! Well, by now you've probably surmised that I'm a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic anyway, huh? :P But, hey, I got all wrapped up in reading about your Dragon Factory program, and kind of forgot about the Vue stuff. That looks pretty cool! Any more info anywhere available on it? Such as comments/galleries from people who have gotten it and used it to create, err, uhh, well, dragons? I'm a big time dragon fan. About 75% of my oil paintings have dragons in them. Unfortunately, I'm completely lost when it comes to modelling. I have a few demo programs, but the "help" files are all written in Greek, and well, you know...Anyway, you can probably count on me buying it somewhere in the near future. :) Cheers, all, Mike

rain ( ) posted Sun, 24 September 2000 at 11:35 AM

I'm hoping to get it soon too and would love to see what people have done with it. I thought I noticed a gallery on the Web site that is set up to house pictures from people that have the program but was not yet working. I could be wrong though - it does happen :-) Claire

bloodsong ( ) posted Sun, 24 September 2000 at 11:59 AM

heyas; i'm sure you'll like dragon factory, mike :) there is a gallery; in fact, i just posted some pics that coldrake made with the models -- he's doing a wonderful job! i haven't posted any comments by users, though coldrake has given me tons of praise along those lines. i dunno, seems a bit immodest. steve shanks also wrote a review at internet eye magazine, over down in poserworld land. (there's a link to the review on the front page.) the gallery is working, rain... but it does use javascript for semi-security purposes, and that does't work with all the browsers. ::sigh:: yes, well, but back on topic... um, er oh yeah! some of them draggie pics i did, i did in vue! (really, i did! sikkanth is even unretouched!)

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 02 October 2000 at 4:24 AM

bloodsong, I was just reading Steve's review of your Dragon Factory. Looks pretty cool! :) Cheers, Mike PS I don't think there's anything at all wrong with tooting your own horn from time to time, when you have a good reason...Dragon Factory looks like a good enough reason to me! :)
