The only time you should select Premium render, is if you want some Depth of field or other effects. Dont actually think the eye sees any difference between default and super. Default rendering is enough for most images. Lighting however, can make a world of difference.

The problems you have sounds like a problem with windows, and not with Bryce itself. Had this with win98 when the RAM wasnt enough. (XP works better) About the DOF settings, one tip is to select the model you want to focuse on, then go to the rendering settings. Select "Premium" and click on the "Set to current selection". Dont worry about the Focal length, but to get the most realistic result, the Lens radius should be set to a maximum of 0.04. I usually use 0.02-0.03. I have used these settings on my images "Dreampeople part 2", "Pac Man" and "Panic". Check them out and see how the DOF looks on these. Hope this helps & good luck.

For the lights inside the tubes, you could also try ranged lighting. (E button)

Well, living in Sweden creates some problems, but to have the opportunity to meet some of my Renderosity friends, would be worth a lot more than $65. Lucky bastard... ;)

Its a very loooong shaft... The blue light is the sun reflecting on the wall. The only lightsources used, is two radial light at the bottom of the shaft and one radial light in each engine. The two ships are exactly the same size as the rest of the crafts seen further away. Ive just placed them very close to the camera. As for the angles, thanx. But the front ship is actually throwing itself in front of the other ship and the reason for not angle it upwards, is that it would be flying up, instead of straight ahead which was my intesion.

Thanx guys! I actually do both. But it depends on the image. Sometimes i use the ground to reflect lighting/atmosphere from beneath. For this image ive deleted the ground plane and tilted the camera. For some reason the tilt seem to add to the elevation...or i need new glasses...

Hey there! My suggestion is to add some haze and darken the shadows. Also when you do the postwork, loose some of those sun-streaks and/or soften them up. Good luck.

Thread: Quick image and a question. | Forum: Bryce
Hey, welcome aboard! My suggestion would be to add a background of some sort and also increase the reflection on the desk, so it reflects the objects. The difference between metaballs and usual spheres is that metaballs interact with each other. Try placing 2 metaballs close to each other and see what happens.
