Could definitely make a cool exhaust valve in a futuristic set. Great stuff! :)

Thread: Maxwell Render for bryce?!! | Forum: Bryce
Yeah, Maxwell can produce great results, but thats with the beta version. Unfortunatly its also the slowest renderer in the known universe. In order to speed things up, they have been forced to rebuild the core from scratch, and i seriously doubt we will see a working release in a near future. I also have a feeling that by the time they are done, Vray and other renderers will be able to produce renders with similar results. As with the studio, its probably great if you want to render a chair or some shiny spheres, but its totally useless for anything more complex. Lets just say that you have a scene with 100 million polys divided into 3000 objects. First youll have to export the thing to studio, learn the damn thing(even camera movement require a tutorial), and texture everything inside studio. Now, to add some more fun, lets say a client want some changes regarding the models. Then youll have to go back to your primary 3D program, do the changes, export the thing again, and re-texture everything once more. Nice workflow...not time consuming at all... :)

Dont hold your breath just yet. NL have just release Release Candidate 5 and still people are experiencing crashes and other errors with the existing plugins. Right now the scene must be exported to the standalone studio to create a decent render. Problem is that the studio, imho, is a total f**ck up for a program. :)

Actually its a cell... :) Thanks for the link Quest. Great one! I think ive seen that page before, but it wasnt amongst my bookmarks.(now it is) Try this one out as well if you havent.(see link) @Bandolin, These are actually angular as well. Curved angles are nice, but the polycount is a definite minus. I also try to avoid hypernurbs as much as i can for the same reason. With these i think the soft shadows are helping out, giving the edges a rounded look. :)Rudolf Herczog

Yep, know what you mean AS. Ive definitely overdone more than one scene, but hopefully this one will end up for the better. Plus i need to leave room for wires and stuff. :) Still not certain about the camera view, so it might very well change. I was indeed thinking of having the main lightsource coming from above, along with a slightly polluted atmosphere.

Thanx guys. :) I honestly dont know. I started on the thing about the same time i posted the last piece, and just add parts when i have new ideas. So no rush job. :) Next in line, ill probably extend the side walls above the support beams and add some "cosmetics", similar to the ones on the door, to all the walls.

Great ship design! From a personal pow, the top center, bottom left and most of all, bottom right views, as they are, would make some great images, simply by placing the ship in orbit, with a large planet in the background. Not sure what size youve had in mind, but adding a number of tiny "citylight", and perhaps having some really small ships docking/flying around it would also add to a scene like the one i mentioned above. Just my thoughts though. :)
