I tried using Bryce as a final render, and went crazy remapping everything. I then got Vue, and use it all the time. Love the lighting and rendering. However, there are some effects I just love in Poser. I'm a volume light cone junkie. Using it and Nerd's fog prop gives me the volumetric effects I want for close up shots. Vue works better for me in bigger scenes, and where I want to use special effects without all the hassles I have to go through in Poser to get the same effect (reflections, etc). I almost always use Corel Photo Paint for touchups. Especially the funny bends you get with Mike's shoulders and the sharp lines when posing joints tight. Between Corel and Paint Shop Pro, I get most as good effects as in Photoshop. Photshopo is on my personal wish list though.
Thread: CL.....P5 Upgrade Packaging | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You guys have got it backwards! With P5, it is transmitted psychicly to you, and will appear complete in your mind. This is to allow for easier upgrades later to fix the "Make user pee at 2 A.M problem." The manual will be in PDF format, available from the Psychic Friends Network. Of course, you'll have to get the new mind-reading CD rw available from Intel, and it will only run on Windows XZ, but hey, the price on the upgrade was great!
Thread: Trash street scene WIP # 2 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Nice WIP! I'd start out with $5 for the base scene, and add a dollar for each extra prop that can be removed and seperatly posed. So, for a base scene at $5., add the trashcan, the matress (great prop), and 4 or 5 litter items. Total between $15 and $20. $25 if you get a lot of options and props. The props don't really have to complex. The idea to me is the more use I can get out of a scene, the more its worth to me. I'd also package it as a .cr2 file with all props, then seperate prop files for easier use. It does need something to break up the wall, and maybe antother door/steps that can be turned off, or windows. What would be REALLY great is a clothsline and some cloths to come off of the building. Cloths on the line can just be towels with a bumpmap, so it shouldn't be too complex to do. To me it looks like a back alley in a residential area in a bad neighborhood. Good start! Keep at it! When its done, I'll probably buy it. I'd love to do a New York 1930's back alley scene.

Thread: WHERE can I get a bird!? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For big birds, there's Daz's Eagle with the expansion pack and Eagle map. Thats a total of 3 seperate products. The poses make it worthwhile. They also have the songbird with Great Tit expansion pack. The Daz stuff can be a little spendy by the time you're done, but they're worth it. Bloodsong has some nice morphs and textures for it at 3D Menagerie too (free). I'd check out Bloodsong first, and decide what base models you can buy that she has morphs and textures for. It really makes your dollar go farther. For ALL sorts of birds, Lynn at Vista has the widest selection. Canaries to budgies to flamingos to everything else. Unless they've changed, Vista mails you a CD of what you buy, rather than let you download. Lynn does beautiful work, and you won't be disappointed.
Thread: help with finding oriental clothings | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Royloo has a number of oriental items for Mike and Vicky. Lots of hair for Vicky. http://home.netvigator.com/~sssiuiu/royloo/main.htm Daz has the Hun pack, which isn't bad for a barbarian. Quim has Asian Man as a great oriental texture for Mike. rDNA has some good middle eastern stuff too. The new Temple Guardsman is great for Mike. And good stuff for Vicky too. There are some nice room sets here in the marketplace too. And a few freebies in freestuff. Do a search on "Oriental: to find most of it. But as has been said before, Poserworld is still you're best bet. The kimono for Vicky there is bloody beautiful (he I'm US, bloody isn't a curse here). They have some beautiful stuff there for Vicky, and the price can't be beat for what you get. The biggest problem with PoserWorld is they have so much there, you become a kid in the candy store with all the money to buy that you want. Rena and Steve do great work, and its the best bang for the buck anywhere. Hope this helps!

I'd love to see an old blunderbus gun, once with the wide mouth at the end. Now that would be unusual. I've got an idea for a Rip Van Winkle pic, and a blunderbuss would be neat for him to be carrying.
Thread: CROSSTALK easy and fast CHEAT! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is a great idea, especially when combined with crisjon1950's tutorial. When I've got 2 (or more) figures interacting, I use crisjon's method, since I've got to pose them together. I then export the objects, pose the next set, and export them. Finally I can import all of them into a single render with no cross talk, yet I still have all the posing relationships. In effect we do the same thing when we export them to Bryce or Vue. Of course, the real answer is just getting rid of crosstalk completely (I hope) with Poser 5.

Well, I talked my partner into getting my upgrade for my birthday. Then when I read the fine print, it ships no later than September 15th. How appropriate! Thats my birthday! Of course, sooner is MUCH better! And later will get a rDNA VooDoo doll with Kupa's name on it.

I'd love to test for you! I'm a programmer between contracts, and I've done a lot of testing in the past (although I've just started Poser figure testing for someone). It does sound like a lot of fun!
Thread: POSERWORLD fans flock... fly back to base! :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
PoserWorld is still the best bang for the buck in PoserLand! Of all the things I've bought, my PoserWorld subscription has given me the most. They even listen when people make requests. Steve and Rena may not be Gods, but they sure are saints in our little cyber world. Now you'll have to excuse me, the chief duck has given the feeding frenzie signal...
Thread: Is Poser really that bad ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser from a professional programming point of view: Very non-OS standard and not at all easy to use to those of us familiar with the Windows interface. If I were to have presented this to a group of my users, I'd have been shot down in a minute. No real button bars at all, let alone control over them. No list of recent files. No multiple window capability. Running at high resolutions makes captions unreadable. No directory control....(on and on). That said, it ain't really that bad. Poser was designed with one thing in mind, posing life figures without having to rebuild the object every time. Add standardized mapping, and you have a killer application. Nothing else really compares, and for a pretty low price. With the tremendous community of Poser developers and artists and it suddenly becomes a cult. There are freebies, good for sale products, and great tutorials to help. Oh, I forgot basic animation. The interface is non-standard to anything, but not too dificult to learn. There are hundreds of tutorials from the basics to the most esoteric to help. (And I have problems even getting a simple help file written for an accounting application.) I'd never give it to my user base, but I'd pay twice as much to get it for myself. Hopefully a lot of Poser 4's shortcomings will be fixed in Version 5. I'll find out as soon as it gets delivered.
Thread: POSER 5 SPECIAL EDITIONS!! ORDER NOW FOR YOUR CHANCE TO GET ONE! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Put my order in! Now, I've got to see if I won before I order Mimic from Daz. Probably too late too win (9:15 PST), that's what I get for sleeping in! I tried to get next day air on shipping, but it kept kicking me out. Ah well, at least I got my order in and now I just have to wait...
Thread: does DAZ Michael come with clothes or not ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There are many free cloths, textures, and hair for Mike available here and elsewhere on the web. While the best things for Mike cost money, you can make a good start with just the base figure and the freebies available. PoserWorld also has a ton of cloths for everyone (not just Mike), for a VERY reasonable subscription fee, and they add more every couple of weeks. A warning though, once you start buying, its hard to stop. I've gotten to the point where I buy almost every half way decent texture I can find, and any clothing that looks in any way unique. Sometimes the best is free though. Rubio's sarong is incredable.
Thread: Let's hear it for Eirian and Rubio | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It never ceases to amaze me the comments that come up in these forums. What started out as a simple thank you to two great artists has become discussion first on the merits of a piece, then on the way a critque was handled. First, if the artist wants comments, he/she asks for them in a gallery posting. Comments can be turned off there. The definition of creative criticism is in the hands of the person who posts them. I've had comments on my work that have p*ssed me off royally, that didn't reflect art or content. However, every comment affected me and my work, if only to make me try harder to offend the idiot I disagree with. I appreciate all comments, even the stupid, bigoted, rude ones I get from people who have no work posted and can't spell any better than I can. Commentary helps us grow in our art. Second, a simple thank you to two artist posted as a thread in a forum, and a work showing the models and textures, isn't the arena for critical comments. The artist didn't ask for them here. If he'd wanted comments, he'd have posted it in the gallery and asked for them. Putting the artist in the position where he has to defend a simple example of a couple of good items is rude. Further, criticism should encourage the artist whenever possible. Tone of a posting has a lot to do with this. If you can't say it nicely, maybe you should get some counseling on how to deal with others. What ever happened to simple courtesy? Finally, about all the posts of peoples work, and the number of items uploaded to the galleries. I buy a lot of stuff here. Renderosity makes money off of me a few times each week. One of the reasons I come back is to see all the posts, and to post my own work - good and bad. Sometimes the things I think are pretty poor, wind up with the most comments, advice, and often are the more popular of my pieces. I like going through all the works posted, and seeing some newbies first try. Or something strange (and pretty poor), from some soul just trying to connect. Each in its own way has some bit of beauty, and I try to find it and say something to the artist. I often point out problems I see too, with suggestions for improvement. Politely. We've got a good thing here on Renderosity, and backbiting and infighting can ruin it. In ending my little essay, I'd like to thank Eirian and Rubio too. And also to chrisjon1950 for the chance to join my thanks to his.
