Ditto to all the above in spades, very well explained. Many's the time I have had to go in and wipe out keyframes on the camera at the end of setting everything up, simply because I forgot to click the 'animate camera' button to red. You CAN delete all keys, just for the camera, by the way. Open up the "keys" window (i don't know the official name) and either close up all items or scroll down to the line for main camera. Be sure you are at the first frame of your animation. Click on the first frame of the camera line. Scroll to the last frame. Hold down shift and click on the last key of the camera line. Hit delete on your keyboard. This wipes out all keyframes FOR THE CAMERA ONLY. I always animate with the main camera. If you are going in close for a head shot, (and I know most people know this) you will be shooting with a very short, nearly fish-eye lens if you accept the default; warps character's heads. You can change the focal length. I use 135 mm. Suggested sequence, one way to work, there are many others: once you have all poses set up, go to frame 1 and place your main camera. Open up the 'keys' window. Select all frames in a smilar manner to the above. Hit "constant section". Then, move your animation and camera to the second 'destination' frame. Make a key there. Do this for the entire movie. When you play back, your character will move, but the camera will only jump abruptly from one location to the next at the keyframes. Do a 'save as' to make a safety copy of your file. Then go back into "keys" and change ONLY THE CAMERA keys to "linear'. Now when you play back, the character will move and your camera will transition/dolly smoothly, in fact like a steel ball on a rail. You may be suprised to see the camera 'lose' the character in a few places. You can start to place more keys to fix this. If you want to be conservative, retrieve the 'constant' copy and place a lot more 'constant' keys, make another safety copy, then 'go linear.' Then entire subject of then using the graphs and some spline interpolation so as to get the camera to slow down as it comes to a stop, and gently accelerate when it begins to move...is the subject of another time! Whew. ::::: Opera :::::
Thread: What hair is this? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow.....
Netherwerks, that is intensely aninmatible hair. Kudos on the power.
your links to animations are dead. I'd love to see them.
can the hair be made to work with Eternal Judy, which is a character by 3Dream off of the Poser5Woman Judy? 3Dream has a "hair fit" page at which you can download a pose to make various hair fit his great character. Maybe between the two of you you can effect an EJ/Hair La Minx solution???
EJ page at Renderosity here.

have you checked out face_offs Skin Shader python script? Takes maximum advantage of bump map. Some examples of my renders using it with a male model can be seen on this thread.::::: Opera :::::
Thread: bump maps for Dina or Natalia? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
if you have selected a texture, it's pretty easy to make a bump map if you have a good 2D/paint program. I recently learned how to do it, thanks to pros at this forum. Having the bump map derive exactly from the texture is beneficial. The "short explanation" is: make safety copy of texture make copy of texture rename the file something unique like dinabump.jpg open in graphics software desaturate invert kick up the contrast save you don't have to do any pixel editing ::::: Opera :::::
Thread: Help info about animation (Mocap or manual ) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
if you already HAVE the mocap (bvh), go that route to get quick results. If you do NOT have it, the question of how to produce it is gigantic. If you go mocap, you might want to consider what you are missing from learning the established skills of direct keyframe animation. It is difficult. It is rewarding. You learn about human emotion because you have to observe. I watch television with the sound off. ::::: Opera :::::

I think the key is to not let the backdrop get resized, let alone stretched, by Poser. Make the image the same exact pixel size your final render will be, and make your posing window that same size. That way, it will render in Poser exactly the same way you saw it in PS or whatever you use. I agree that adding a backdrop in post is a fine idea, but if you are animating, a perfect backdrop works pretty nicely. ::::: Opera :::::

I've had good fortune with background images. Here's an example.
The problem with this render is that the
background jpg is TOO realistic and sharp (photograph)
and it clashes somewhat with the figure.
I am not saying you are wrong in your opinion, only that I have had some success.

SamTherapy if you read this....
can you say a few things about the downside of rendering out the backdrop and importing as a background jpeg? You could save me/us some wasted time in the future. Where and why does this idea go bad?
Thanks

i guess you can get a plugin for Maya pretty reasonably... From the Pixar site: Coming Soon! RenderMan for Maya, for Macintosh OS X and Windows XP, will be available for purchase, for $995, via our Web site in early 2005. :::::: Opera ::::::

In reality on planet earth this SHOULD NOT be an issue! << Yes, it should. This is a good but finite application, Poser, that costs $249.00 and works remarkably great, all facts considered, on these puny destop PCs. Reality check: Renderman costs $5,000 per seat, I believe, and for Final Fantasy the team rendered on a farm consisting of 1000 cpus. I don't know what bulk license they got. Not to mention Maya, per seat. Accepting what is realistic is the reality on this earth of a mature person. Projecting expectation that the universe 'should' conform to what you 'want it to do' regarless of facts, is childish. The correct tool for the size of the job.... ::::: Opera :::::

also, check out using Mover to go over to VuePro and render there. There are pros and cons to that approach. ::::: Opera :::::

are you animating? if not, as SamTherapy says split things up, take a render of the background part of the scene and import it into new file as a background jpg. If you are animating and need shifting perspective and angles on your background, you may need to call Industrial Light and Magic or Pixar. [renderman] ::::: Opera :::::

Thread: Poser 5 Serial Problems!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Really. I found them helpful. I received Poser5 on Tuesday, 11.23.04 I went to register and discovered the "high underscore" problem. I put the package aside, because my first project only required one file off the CD to use in P4PP. Upon returning from my thanksgiving trip, I needed to register. I called the support line. After a few minutes, Colin Gerbode, whom I had spoken to before, came on the line. As soon as I began to speak about the "high underscores," he knew exactly what the problem was and gave me the solution. I am not happy CL made this dumb mistake, but they were responsive with the solution. dolfijntjes, did you tell them about the bad lettering, or did you have a different problem, and how did you solve it? ::::: Opera :::::
