I think it all comes down to available products, and Vicki wins that hands down (unless all you want are nudes, and then you can get into the morph war, but you still have the textures thing to look at). This is first time I've even seen mention of Dina/Vina/whatever in months, maybe even a year.
It's difficult to go a day without seeing a Vicki topic, let alone a V3 topic.
Thread: Newbie question about P5 material room | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was under the impression that for your first question a MAT file would be the answer, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for, exactly.
As for the second, I think karen covered that. I don't know of a faster way, sorry.
I've been using P5 for some time now (almost to the point of exclusion), but I'm still learning a lot of its intracacies.
Thread: Iron maiden's new album's cover done in poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, dreadful cover, and they're one of my favorite bands. A shame really. I was very dissapointed when I saw that was the final artwork since their covers are usually very good. As stated, Eddie looks good, but the other characters are rubbish, defualt Poser 4 figures without textures. Sigh. I'm ashamed they actually chose this (I REALLY hope someone else told them they had to, but then I'd be saddened that they caved in...ugh, no win situation here). On a side note, someone, I forget who, did the "Piece of Mind" album cover in Poser some time back. Looked very good.

Thread: Hey I bought the poser 5 but... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you're not upgrading from any previous version, and it's not too late, you may want to cancel your order. Amazon sells it for $140 with no shipping. At one time they had it for $50. Was a good investment since I'm one of the few (it seems) who hasn't been plagued with problems. And now back to lurking. I'll surface again in another eight months or so. Happy posing. :)

Disable file and printer sharing, don't use silly passwords, use a firewall. Problem solved.
Thread: A question about V3. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think the simple explanation is this:
If you buy base V3, you only get expression morphs in the face. If you want to change her in any way, you have to buy the face and body morph packages.
The only grey area is for 3rd party characters. The answer for that is is: if the person created the morph(s) from scratch without using the DAZ morphs, you shouldn't need the add-ons. If, however, the morph(s) was(were) created using the standard morphs , you need the add-ons.
I'm not 100% positive on this, but I'm pretty sure it's correct. If I garbled something or you're unclear about something, feel free to ask. I'm sure someone else will come along to correct anything I got wrong anyway. :)
Hope that helped!
Thread: Newbie question: Clothes for Victoria et al usable for standard Poser4 figures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Unless the clothes that are meant for the millennium figures have something that specifically states they'll work with something else, the short answer is no. You could always use magnets to make them fit, or try to modify them in a modeling program, but that's a hassle. There are a lot of clothes available for the P4 models (well, the P4 woman really) in the freestuff here and on other sites. Keep poking around. There's a ton there, you just might not have dug deep enough yet. If all else fails, the low-res version of Vicky is pretty affordable. Good luck.
Thread: Very VERY new user needs info | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, there's various places you can go for tutorials. The most immediate are the tutorials here (look for the Tutorials link above). There's tuts for Poser (4), 5, and 5 SR-2. Some range from the basic (putting a figure in, adding clothes, textures, etc) the more advanced stuff (the setup room, etc.).
Also, DAZ has some tutorials on their site that might be of interest.
http://arcana.daz3d.com/
And then you can check out RuntimeDNA's tutorials (you'll need to register on the site (it's free) to access them).
http://www.runtimedna.com
And then there's PoserPros. It's essentially a big forum, and I'd suggest registering there as well (free also). Lots of good and helpful things and people to be found.
http://www.poserpros.com
There's others, of course, but these come to mind first.
Oh, and how can I forget 3dcommune? They should have some as well.

Happy posing.

Thread: Kinda OT-What utility do you use to backup your Poser files to CD? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Nero. Always works, never a coaster, no threat to imminent OS destruction like EZ HD Destroyer (can you tell I don't like EZ?) Nero is also cheap and comes with a lot of new burners (Lite-on! WOO!).

Thread: OT:Good bye JWKub !!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The point is you're doing it in the wrong forum. Repeatedly. After being told it's the wrong forum. Haven't you read what the moderaters have told you? I'm against censorship as much as the next guy, but this forum is here for people to discuss Poser and help each other, not spam their dislikes about a program. You're free to say you hate it as much as the next guy, but shut up after a while. We get the picture. And if you're that scared, leave. I won't miss you. You'll likely be banned for trying to avoid being banned anyway. Shades of liftan here....
Thread: Pace copy protection | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Seems to me this is what I've been saying all along. Too many choice quotes in the article to paste, but I'll go with this one anyway: "We dropped PACE from our PC line of products about one year ago and did not see any decrease in sales. In fact, many customers are thanking us for taking that step, freeing them from the need to get response codes, the need for replacement diskettes and other hassle they had in the past."

HEY! Where is Vicki supposed to wear this? ;) This is really cool, and different. Thanks. :)
