I have Poser 4.03 and the ProPack with the lastest Service Update. I also have Vue4 with the 4.01 patch. I have the 4.02b patch as well, but I haven't installed it yet. I wanted to see what others said about it before I took the plunge, as 4.02 had problems. Anyway, I installed Poser first and then Vue, which I got later. I have never seen the error mentioned above. But I think I import my models by the method droyd mentioned above. I click on an icon on the left side of the screen about midway down. It opens a dialogbox with some models displayed in the middle. At the bottom are three buttons. I choose the one that says file and then I browse to the location where my pz3 file is. I've never had any problem with this. And if there's another way to bring a pz3 file in, I guess I didn't know it. Hope this method helps. Kevin

Are you using one of the patches for Vue 4. Without patch 4.01 for Vue 4, Michael would not come into Vue looking like he did in Poser. As I remember, the transparencies wouldn't apply right, so parts got cut away that shouldn't have been and parts stayed that should have been cut away. Kevin

I think I have a video card called G-force 2 or something like that. Anyway, I when into options in Vue4 and unchecked Use OpenGl and the gray color and the duplicate meshes that weren't really there all went away. Thanks. Kevin

I have ProPack and Vue4 with Vue Patch 4.01 installed. Without this patch, some of the transparencies don't apply right. But with the patch they come in fine. I have gotten errors about the bmp files sometimes, but not always. I just say ignore them and the models look pretty good without them. If you don't have the 4.01 patch installed, that could be your problem. Kevin

I have not been able to render to disk with Vue 4 since Patch 4.01 and maybe before that. I can't remember. Anyway, without the patch, the transparencies for Micheal would not work correctly. Patch 4.01 fixed that. I haven't tried Patch 4.02 yet. Other people have had this same problem and it was suggested then that you could render to your screen at the resolution etc. that you want or even larger than what your screen size is and then resample it down in Photoshop etc. That's how I've been doing my renders in Vue 4 and then I save them to disk. There is a little icon at the top of the window for this. If I try to render to disk, Vue will run up to 99% and then freeze and never finish. Perhaps this method will work for you. Kevin

Thanks for the tips and Varian, it looks like you've got some great tutorials on your site. I'll be checking them all out. Thanks again. Kevin

So how did you make the water? It seems like it would have to be a volumetric inorder to look at the scene from in the water. But there are no volumetric waters in my presets for Vue4. Thanks.
Thread: anybody else had trouble regestering? | Forum: Bryce
It rejected my Bryce 4 serial number during the installation process. Told me it was invalid. I called the Customer Service number on the back of the card (I think that's where it was.) Saturday afternoon. They asked if I had registered Bryce 4 with either them or Metacreations. I had. Then they asked for my name and a couple other questions and found me in their database. Then they asked for my Bryce 5 serial number, and registered it. Then they gave me a new serial number. I had to enter this number in place of the Bryce 5 serial number. This number also made it bypass the request for the Bryce 4 serial number. And I was up and running.
Thread: Render woes.... | Forum: Vue
Well, at least I'm not the only one having problems. And I HAVE the patch. Before I installed the patch I was able to render to disk without problems. But with the patch I can't. I needed the patch because without it Michael wouldn't render right. But the patch fixed all that, and I was very happy. I could bring in a poser file without any trouble. And then I tried to render to disk today. No matter what size I pick, it changes it to 2.38 by I forget at 150dpi. I was trying for 5 x 3.75 at 150dpi. I tried the user setting and some of the presets to no avail. And if that's not enough, the process will count up to 100% and then just sit there. I've wait for a while - a couple minutes. Maybe not long enough. But Vue seems to quit responding. I can move the mouse but I can't select anything. I've tried hitting escape. But nothing works and when I finally hit ctrl - alt - delete, it says that Vue has stopped responding. Curiously enough though, the render has been saved, but like I said, it's never the right size. Bumper.
Thread: Poser Models into Vue 4 | Forum: Vue
Well, I installed the patch and that seemed to solve my problems. I was able to load a pz3 file and didn't do really have to do anything to Michael. While the file was loading, Vue did say that it couldn't load the bump files. That they were not a supported format or something. I know that this was due to the fact that I'm using the Poser Pro Pack. But the Poser figure seemed to look fine without them. Savage 2001: when you say you set the min/max to 100%, are you talking about those color swatches in the Transparency Channel, or something else? And Jackson, Elyria is about 50 miles West of Cleveland. And also, many of my relatives are from the AkronBarberton area. Thanks again.

Hi Jackson, I'm from Elyria. Your renders look really great. Wish mine looked that good. I have the patch and I'll try installing it and see what happens. When you imported your model, did you export from poser as a obj file? Or did you just import the Poser file? Thanks to all who responded.

I was using Syyd Raven's Max textures this time and the bangs cut hair. I'm sure the Max texture worked okay in Bryce 4. I haven't tried the bangs cut in Bryce yet. I don't remember what texture I used on the first model that wasn't processed by VueMaster. I think it was Catharina P's tomy texture. The hair was the wedge cut. The wedge cut works great in bryce. In Vue 4, the transparency seems to cut away parts of the hair that should be there and leave other parts that shouldn't be.
Thread: A Michael poser | Forum: Vue
There's a tutorial on Renderosity under the Vue section that deals with how to fix Mike's eyebrows, eyelashes and eyes. I was having the same problem and the tutorial fixed those areas for me. I'm still having problems with the hair though. There isn't a transmap loaded for the hair and when I load it by following the same method in the tutorial for the eyebrows, parts of the hair disappear that should be there. From memory, these were the steps I followed. I selected the hair model and opened the texture editor. I set the global transparency to 100% I turned off cast shadows and check variable transparency. I changed to map function? (can't remember the right name) and loaded my hair transmap. But like I said parts of the hair disappear. For example, the wedge cut looked like a bad barber had buzzed him down the middle and I'm sure I didn't choose the bald map. Do I need to invert the transmap? Can you do this in Vue? Or do I have to do that in Photoshop? Any suggestions? Thank.
