Faces: I've counted six so far - Any advance? Might I suggest "The Bush Street Kids" as a name?
Thread: Challenge WIP-The 5th Element | Forum: Bryce
Hello Mr.Bryster I am quite keen on ancient Egyptian stuff and have trawled the net in the past for freebie objects, textures, glyphs, fonts, etc., I think you'll find what ever you want and more besides at any one of these sites: http://www.neferchichi.com/ http://timonk.com/estuff.html http://www.thekeep.org/~kunoichi/kunoichi/themestream/egypt_column.html http://www.3d-graphics-liebisch.de/download_2/download_2.html Good searching. Thread: Rainbow, Gold and Davey Jones' Locker WIP | Forum: Bryce
Thank you very much for your comments, I've taken them all on board especially about the lighting which is well founded. @ jasonmit. Yes, I know Mr.Jones's Locker is not a chest, I also know there is no gold at the end of the rainbow and that rainbows are pretty rare underwater. Still, if it gets finished and into the gallery I'll make certain it goes in the fantasy section. Davy Jones' Locker:- The bottom of the sea; the resting place of drowned seamen. Davy Jones is the evil spirit of the sea. There are various possible sources of the phrase. Jones may be a corruption of name of the biblical seaman Jonah. Alternatively, DJ may have been a real character - a 16th century publican who owned a locker much feared by sailors. Lastly, DJ may have taken his surname from Jonah but first name from Saint David, the patron saint of Wales and guardian of Welsh sailors. @ Groingrinder. So do I (but I haven't got the execution down to a fine art just yet, will keep persevering though). @ Doublecrash. Will try the light rays you suggest. Not quite sure what a Distance Rander Mask is but will look it up in the Help files and inwardly digest. Thanks. @ Swade, Rayraz, Slakker. Thank you for you comments. Dennis

You could always try listening to Ian Drury and the Blockheads, one of whom's biggest hits, in the UK at least, was 'Reasons to be Cheerful...Part 1'. His biggest selling album was 'New Boots and Panties'. Brilliant it was to. Good Luck, Dennis.
Thread: June Challenge Winners (finally) Here!!!!!! | Forum: Bryce
Congratulations to all three Winners, to come top in this level of expertise is a great achievement so very well done to Zhann, Sambucus and FWTempest. Just a word of commiseration to my three selections, we may not have won the accolades but we will not wallow in the mire of our own dissappointment, it's to the boats everybody and the DTE, the July Challenge is waiting !!! (I think) Dennis
Thread: June Challenge - Vote Here!!!!!! | Forum: Bryce
Wow, the entries are absolutely awesome and everybody deserves to be winners but if we must choose here's my selection:-
First of all I placed in third place -
sparr - third place was difficult for me and the decision went to sparr over ralphwarnick and ranachronos only by a whisker. Displayed a great awareness of what's possible in Bryce with this image and will produce fantastic work in the future, can't wait.
Secondly in second spot is -
tresamie - no problems here, second place and richly earned. Such fabulous detail in this image showing an infinite understanding of texture, style and table manners.
How do you bend a tree in Bryce - tut please a.s.a.p.
Bringing up the rear and in 1st place is (ta-da ta-da toot)
burgi - way, way out in front in my opinion, a winner all the way. Primivity at its very best. A super image created in the style of the master of industrial landscape,
Alan Child, and using the trademark feature of Alan, the chimney. In this representation two chimnies and centrally placed, as they should be together with the brash smoke of the north spewing forth in rolling billows of poisonous filth. Nothing short of a wonderful picture. Well done burgi. Give 'im t'money !

Thread: just messin around | Forum: Bryce
This is just not fair!! For my next major work image ( to appear in about six weeks) I have been experimenting (you can do that when you don't know what you are doing!!) with an underwater scene as an alternative to 'drawing rooms' and now look!! You have gone and pinched the basis of my whole scene, on my somewhat slow computer the image started appearing foggy and just got foggier and foggier the longer I looked at it. You are the first artist to have created plankton on the computer so now I can only be the second and that's nowhere! This is superduper, now tell me how you did it - you know it makes sense!
Thread: Dedication to Vince Silune | Forum: Bryce
Thank you for your most encouraging comments Arleen, Vince
certainly has an entertaining web site at the following:

Well worth a visit and was the instigation for my curiosity as to how he did so many 'effects'!. Just an email asking for a little advice has provided invaluable advice and guidance. I have now lined up a list of must do's - snow effects, fire, environment reflection, depth of field, soft shadows etc., etc., Combine that lot AND I would HAVE a picture!
