Okay, so I opened up the CR2 file and changed the file path to the new folder, and it worked! Thanks again Rance01.
And imax24, I'm guilty of naming FoldersLike_This :blushing: I saw it so often in the names of content files that I assumed that Poser couldn't handle it.

Rance01, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks a bunch!
It's looking like I'm going to be hacking some CR2 files... oh well. Wouldn't be the first time I've had to correct a messed-up file path.

Thread: Restructuring my runtime--possible pitfalls? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, so I did some experimenting tonight. My download folder is now empty, and everything is in a single runtime. At that point, it works.
However, I'm running into problems when I try to regroup library files. For instance, I have a figure folder named "JamesG2" under a folder named "G2". Instead, I want "JamesG2" to be under "Smith Micro Humans". If I just copy and paste "JamesG2" into "Smith Micro Humans", then James G2 will load just fine. However, if I delete the original "JamesG2" folder (the one under "G2"), then James's body parts and morphs come up in the parameters, but nothing shows up in my scene. What do I need to do to get my runtime files grouped like I want them to be?

Glad to see you two worked everything out Most of my content is used on a pretty regular basis, so I don't think I would gain much from installing and deleting it per project. So you're saying that it is possible to move files around in my default runtime so that they're still in the same runtime, but grouped into logical folders? I think that's what would be best for me.

Okay, I see what you mean about texture folders. I would prefer to draw from one runtime only, but have that runtime organized in at least a semi-logical manner. I was thinking about keeping the texture and Geometries folders all the same, but moving the files in the library folders (pose, figure, prop, etc.). Will that cause problems?
I'm also thinking that I better not delete the default-position content until I try to load the moved content and see how it works. Hmm... guess I just have to move carefully. I'm very scared of breaking something.

Thank you very much! I've been thinking about expanding my weapons collection for a while now, and this is perfect

Thread: is this correct? white is the neutral for displacement maps? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes! Thank you! I was just having trouble with a displacement map last night... turns out I was using white where I should have been using black. Thank you again!

Thread: What's the secret to making good dynamic clothing? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, thanks! That's good to know. As it turns out, I might be able to get away with making only one part of the clothing dynamic and having the rest conforming... I'll have to experiment. There's always something new to learn!

Thread: Who's tried conforming hair to Vicki 2 in Poser 7? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Darn, I was too late to edit my last post!
So I just remembered that I had Stephanie 1 Low-Res in my runtime, and I tried conforming the Flo hair to her (and promptly ended up with Hair-In-Stomach syndrome just like EnglishBob did). I took the figure and hair into the setup room and noticed what looks like a discrepancy in their bone structures (circled in red in my composite image below):
I'm not a rigging expert by any means, but it looks a little off to me. Is this what PhilC was talking about?
Oh, and by the way, nice hair! I'll have to experiment with it on a couple other figures.

Hmm, I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to be downloading Vicky 2 Low-Res sometime in the next week. I'll try putting hair on her and report back

Thread: OMG I need HELP :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, I think I see what you're trying to do: you've purchased a figure (a 3D person) and loaded it into Poser. Now you have a skin texture (an image that is applied to the figure like digital shrink-wrap) and you want to apply it to the figure. Is that correct? The skin texture will be contained in either a MAT pose (check the pose directory of your content library; MAT poses usually have MAT, "texture", "material", or something similar in the name) or a material file (go into the Materials room and check the materials directory of your content library). Select your figure, and then load the MAT pose or material file to apply it to your figure.
Now, on to the morphs: some figures have their morphs installed when you load them. We'll start with face morphs. Load Mavka, click on her head, and look at the parameter dials (the dials for Bend, Twist, Scale, XTranslate, etc.). Along with the movement and scaling dials, there may be dials with other names like Smile or NoseBig (just for examples; the actual names might be different). These are morph dials. Move them back and forth to apply morphs (a value of 1 applies the morph 100%, lesser values apply it to a lesser extent). Other body parts may have other morphs, and the full figure (select "Body" rather than any of the body parts) may have morphs of its own.
In addition to pre-loaded morphs, some figures need morphs loaded separately. Check your pose directory for INJ poses; they normally have INJ, "load-morphs", or something similar in the name. Load the INJ pose to load the morphs. Morph dials will appear in the parameter dials as described above.
Does that help? If you'd like, I can post some screenshots. I use Poser 7 so the interface might look a little different, but I think the process is basically the same.
EDIT: Looks like some other posters replied at the same time I did. They explained it much better than I just did

Thread: But all of you use Poser for rendering ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've always used the Firefly rendering engine within Poser--I've found the default settings to be useless, but I get good results with a little playing around. POV-Ray does lovely renders, but I've never tried to export from Poser to POV-Ray (and I find working in POV-Ray to be a bit of a pain anyway). Laurie, that is a very nice image!

Thread: Cables and cords | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I would start with a cylinder, and scale it down until it's as thick as you want your cable to be. Position it where you want your cable to start and extrude one end. Without deselecting anything, you can move, rotate, and scale that face, so that you have a "bent" cylinder that follows the line of the cable, then extrude the face again, and so on. It will take quite a bit of patience, but I think it ought to work (it's how I've made shapes such as handles on water pitchers, which are shaped sort of similarly to a cable). Good luck!

Thread: OT-Screen names | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Cyberwoman was a superhero character I created a couple years ago. (I've since discovered that it apparently has connections to Dr. Who or something like that; it's entirely coincidental, because I've never watched the show.) My Cyberwoman was an ordinary person, but she used computers and other special machines to give her "powers", and I thought it was a fitting name when I started doing computer graphics. Hmm... I should render her in Poser one of these days.

Thread: Why MAT poses? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Interesting points, everyone!
I never considered the workflow issue. Personally I like to mess with my materials, so I usually end up taking a trip into the material room anyway. But I can also see how it would be nice to have everything you needed in the pose room. I agree that the naming conventions (or lack thereof) are kind of a pain. I mean, how many "!Aiko 3..." folders do you really need? (My installation of Aiko 3 came with about three of them, including two that start with "!MAT Aiko 3...". So annoying!) And besides, if all the folders start with "!", then don't they line up by alphabetical order just like they would without the "!"? (Yes, DAZ, I am talking to you )
I think I'll start adding both MAT poses and materials settings to Poser content I bring out. That way everyone can have the one they like to use
