Thread: Question re: compositing render passes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for your replies.
I'm not trying to exactly match what I can get in one pass. I'm trying to better understand how the lights affect each other, and to learn what effect small changes might make.
I figure if I can render separate passes, and then composite them into something that looks more or less like the one-pass render, then I can more easily and quickly experiment with the render layers instead of re-rendering with the lights. A little more of this light, a little less of that shadow... that kind of thing.
This is the kind of thing I was looking for:
You probably want to know how to combine diffuse and specular first, same as Poser is doing in single pass.
Linear Dodge. This is an incredibly unhelpful name for "add".
A shadow or AO layer would be combined via Multiply.
Thanks folks!
Thread: Poser startup and Python problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks! It was the poserstartup.py that was the problem.
I had accidentally changed it to an unrecognizable extension.
Thanks again for the quick response.

I hate to complain, but I am not a fan of these latest changes. Don't know if you're looking for feedback, or if these changes are locked in, but here goes:
I am using Firefox 16.02, and I did a hard refresh before viewing the gallery.
Most importantly, please bring back the ability to mouse-over a thumbnail to bring up the stats on that image (views, comments, etc.). The new "eye button" is much less efficient.
There is a lot of wasted space on the page where an image is displayed; the previous design was much more efficient, requiring much less scrolling to get to the comment section.
-The comment section is much harder to visually scan. Before, the commenter's name was displayed below his avatar; now they are separated. And again, there is just way too much space between sections, between comments, etc.
Thank you for listening to my gripes.

I still use V3 exclusively.
Nothing against V4, I just have never put the money into all the morphs, clothes, etc. And I put so much time and money into learning how to make V3 work.

Or search for a Python script I believe called "Light Panel." It gives you a little interface to change one or more properties for one or more lights, including a Parent function.

Thank you Dizzi, I look forward to using that when I upgrade to Poser 8. I'm guessing a lot of people would find your script very useful.
