I'm giving up on the trial and sticking with Poser 7. I tried Bagginsbill's suggestions in the other thread and they didn't work. There may be great things in the future with this approach, but it's the first version of Poser I've had problems with. I'm not good enough with it to get all the advantages Poser 8 has that it's worth figuring out how to reconfigure antivirus and firewall programs simply to get a usable product. If I had paid the full price, I'd probably put a lot more effort into it. With a trial, it's not worth the trouble.
Maybe the next version of Poser will be worth getting. Right now, the trial isn't working and I've uninstalled it. I'm not paying over $100 to upgrade to a product where I know I'll need technical support just to make it run on my computer--particularly when the features causing the problems won't be fully implemented till some future version of the program.
I hate knocking something innovative. I'm not the most technical savvy computer user in the world--I'm also not the worst. I'm not buying software that doesn't work on my computer. If new software won't work with my computer configuration, that problem is with the new software, not my computer. My computer may not be completely configured properly, but that doesn't entirely matter. It works with the software on it. I don't need new software that doesn't work harmoniously on my computer. I may change my mind when I see how these features work in the future. That's when I'll reconsider buying a new version of Poser. I just hope that this isn't the Vista type of compatibility problem that will boost DS the way Microsoft boosted Mac sales with Vista. Right now, I prefer Poser. Poser 8 doesn't work for me, so I don't need it.

I'm not sure if I'll like this option. Everything becomes a house of cards where a problem in one application begins to take down everything. Outlook Express used to be a great newsreader till it became more entwined with IE. I've had problems in Windows Explorer trash IE. Now antivirus programs are preventing people from using software they purchase.
Windows based software has never been the most compatible stuff in the world and creating ever greater interdependencies on that software seems like a tech support nightmare where people will be incapable of running software on their own right out of the box.

Here's another manufacturer with visualization models for free.

Thread: P7 versus P6 Rendering Quality. Big Difference? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Opening a P6 scene in P7 should not result in a different render quality. If the scene is relit with the new HDRI image based lighting, it should result in a better look. Without changing anything in the P6 scene, I wouldn't expect a difference in the render.
Thread: Hey ya'll do I HAVE to buy the the morphs for m/3 and v3? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poses do not require the morphs (assuming that you mean posing as in moving the figure to a new stance, such as sitting or running).
As mentioned, not having the morph packs limits the degree of character faces and body types you can use from merchants and freebies. Some merchants sell characters that do not require having the morphs packs, but you'll have to read the product description carefully to be sure. A few freebies similarly do not require the morph packs, but most do require owning them.
Poser 7 has a morphing tool that allows creating your own morphs directly in the application. Magnets are another means to alter figures in Poser. You can create your own morphs in other 3D applications. This means that you do not need the official morph packs to sculpt your own characters. However, there is some convenience to having sets of morphs already designed to make the most common changes to the figure and to apply wholesale changes to the body (such as thin or muscular). There is a certain satisfaction to creating your own characters.
You've got a lot of options to consider including, if you decide to buy the morph packs, whether it starts becoming cheaper to join the DAZ Platinum Club to get a 30% discount on the packs. Another consideration is that the newest version 4 set of Millennium figures are also coming out and, if Victoria 4 is an indication, morphs will be sold in one pack instead of as separate head and body packs. It will be years before there is as much free content for V4 as for V3 and the V3 model is still a very useful figure.
Thread: Koji 1 free with hair and cloths | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser 7 comes with the G2 figures free, including Koji and Kelvin. Joining the CP club also provides those figures free and their clothing.
Thread: Importing rigged models? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No.
It would have to be re-rigged in Poser.
DAZ has an FBX exporter, so there's probably a fair chance that they'll eventually have an FBX importer for Studio someday.
Thread: Just playing around with hybrid clothes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'll have to give it a try. I'm particularly curious whether the dynamic part of the clothing (sleeve in your example) stays conformed and will move with the figure's movements still.

Turn their transparency to "1". There are probably morphs somewhere out there to make them go away, but that's more work.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb173477.aspx"Windows Vista provides the same support as Windows XP for OpenGL, which allows video card manufactures to provide an installable client driver (ICD) for OpenGL that provides hardware-accelerated support; note that newer versions of such ICDs are required to fully support Windows Vista. If no ICD is installed, the system will fall back to the OpenGL v1.1 software layer in most cases."
Sometimes it's easier to look up the facts than spend a lot of time discussing misinformation.

I was referring to paragraph 2, in the gagnonrich post, where the terms explain "without the right to modify Member Content, MySpace.com would not be able to digitally compress music files that Members submit or otherwise format Content to satisfy technical requirements..."
The last two sentences are also different from most website galleries.
The license terminates when the user leaves MySpace.
The license does not allow MySpace the right to sell or distribute content out of MySpace.
There's nothing saying MySpace can sublicense your work Until MySpace owns TV and radio stations (Rupert Murdoch owns MySpace, but not the other way around), the license does not allow the speculated usage. Should that ever happen in the future, delete your membership and they no longer have the right for such usage.
If you can find an online gallery with better terms, post them here. From reading the terms posted in this message, the MySpace terms aren't bad compared to what else is out there. The Renderosity terms are good.
Here's devianart's terms (and there's much worse than this):
"deviantART does not claim ownership rights in Your Content. For the sole purpose of enabling us to make your Content available through the Service, you grant to deviantART a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, re-format, store, prepare derivative works based on, and publicly display and perform Your Content. Please note that when you upload Content, you allow third parties to copy, distribute and display your Content."

T&A thumbs will still display flesh, jut not the naughty bits of flesh. It probably won't have much of an effect on views.
Thread: Gallery Advice: Other galleries | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Cobaltdream: Don't forget to read the second paragraph of the MySpace terms. They explain what they mean by "use, modify, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute such Content solely on and through the MySpace Services."
