Subject: Poser is for Perverts?

Oh gosh..this is eating me. This thread might get hot.

I was told today by two people, Poser is for Perverts and I was named a pervert. After seeing that, I began to wonder if I am when I am not or do not prefer to be, due to the last sexy image I posted in the gallery and what I see in the gallery, and Poser is all about V3, and other female characters, than the guy characters makes me wonder. I am married, have a child, and a whole lot more to worry about. I dunno, in my creation, renders, I am out for realism, lighting, and hopefully get to make a little video using V3. Thinking character creation in 3D, can help change the way hollywood thinks for 3D characters to a point. I am worried about touching V3 or any female characters in Poser, that if I do bring her out to make an image, this thought "Pervert", will always hit the mind.

Poser is for perverts????
Oh my!  I'm a 61 year old pervert....sob.

I do images with both male and female models, a lot are nude (I really, really don't own a lot of clothes for them) and as I'm a texture creator, that is also the main reason.
I do not do hot, passionate poses with them , I leave that to others more skilled in posing. :)

I do not think I am a pervert nor do I think any of the other Poser users are perverts.

We just like to express our art in this particular medium.

Let me introduce you to my multiple personalities. :)

Aahz: "No, that makes me a Pervect!" you define you. Life is like juggling three rabid badgers.... if you don't get torn up in the process, it's a beautiful thing.

You know, last I seen, under the clothes of every human being is ..... GASP NAKEDNESS!

If you have guilt over creating images using the human body then do animal or scenery then.  I certainly don't have an issue.  It's society and the church that teach us from day one to feel shame about our bodies and to look at another.  Oh and last I remember... we are sexual beings.  I would rather have my mate making nude pictures of fantasies he would like to have than going out on me, behind my back.   Then... well then I would have to kill him and that's just so messy you know!

In all seriousness, do what you love and screw what everyone else thinks.  As long as it's not hurting anyone then tell 'em to go take a dive off a short pier into the shallow end!

Just yesterday I deleted all my gallery pics with nudity as I feel that I've been hipcritical in my religous faith...  No, I'm not a zealot and I'm not going to stop perusing the gallery and Poser-ing.  I just feel that I don't need to post nude images for now...  I may change my mind (I've done this before last year) and may post nude images again...  I'm a wobbler I guess!!  I think the human body is great for art and the fact that my 7 year old is very interested in Poser and Anime Studio, she's been hanging out here on 'rosity and I would be embarrassed if she came across any of my nude gallery pics...  I don't think I'm a perv but I don't want to give any negative impressions to my already impressionable kid!  That's my two cents!!

What's wrong with teaching children that the body is beautiful??  You are embarrased by your own minds images brought to life?  I do some really NAKED images but I would never hesitate to show a friend or a family member if they wanted to see and if they asked questions... well you answer them as best you can.  I don't think she will get the impression that walking around in the nude is the way to go, it's just not done but expressing one's desires or bringing an image out of the mind and on to the canvas (of sorts) is one of the greatest gifts we have.  Imagine if we didn't have this medium, we would be back to erasing holes in paper to get the proportions right!!

Poser is for perverts? That's ridiculous!! Whenever I hear garbage like that I always point to the church....ummm sixteen or sixteenth chapel or whatever its called (don't feel like looking it up sorry) but the one with the paintings on the ceiling, little naked babies (cherubs) ext all the famous art just about is nudes.

Are some poser users pervs......probably lol but not all of us, even if we do make the odd "naughty" picture.....that's my two cents anyway lol

It isn't?    Well sheesh!  Who knew!   I've been a nudist ever since I was old enough to figure out how to get that icky diaper off that my Mom used to put on me as a baby!  I love being nude and feel it's the most natural thing in the world considering it's how we enter into this world.  If I had my way I'd never wear clothing,  LOL

If people want to think of me as a pervert because I don't find anything wrong with nudity, fine. At least I'm a comfortable pervert,  LOL

Enlgish political scholar Thomas Hobbes in Leviathon, written in the 1500s to explain why human beings were allowed to have government in the absense of the rule by the grace of the divine once known under Abraham to David, noted that original sin was not the eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge, but wearing clothing.

His argument?

Eating the fruit was not wrong becuase humanity had not yet learned the difference between right and wrong - they had no knowledge upon which to know that disobeying the divine was wrong. After eating the fruit however they covered their bodies in shame - yet they were made in the image of the divine, and so they were therefore shameful of the divine - and that is a sin.

It's a pretty good argument when you think about it. To be shameful of nakedness is to say the divine is something to be ashamed of. If that isn't a sin... there isn't much that could be.

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

I do get off on my creations. It's passion that creates the art.

I can sit down with my guitar for hours and then out pops a new riff. What a f'n rush. I can get off just thinking about that rush. Practice harder waiting for that rush again. Mind, I get such a rush just playing. When an image comes out the way I had imagined, I get off on that too.

What is the point of doing any/all forms of art if you don't get off on it.

OK, getting off on my creations is not the same  as the PeeWee Heman version.

Foxseelady mentioned the Cistine Chapel earlier - as Acadia replied, one of the most indreible pieces of art in the world today. Interesting thing is, though, that when Michelangelo died, the Vatican got kind of huffy about all these naked people floating around on their ceilings, and they hired in another painter to put loincloths and drapes over all the 'naughty' bits. It's only been relatively recently that the chapel has (thankfully) been returned to it's original splendour.

Poser is not FOR perverts. Yes, some perverts USE Poser; but that doesn't mean that all Poser Users are perverts. Any more than saying 'somce catholic priests abuse altar boys' is the same as 'all catholic priests are pedohiles'.

There have always been sniggering accusations about art, artists, and those who pose for them. Poser has the advantage, or disadvantage, that you don't have to persuade anyone to adopt a particular pose. It shares with photography the capacity to produce images without needing to acquire the sorts of skills which can be collectively called draughtsmanship. Both of these increase the snigger factor. Anyway, if anyone here is perverted, it's me. I know who Doug Winger is.

At work and at home, lately, we've been having some interesting discussions re: nudity.  Mostly because the local theatre is showing The Full Monty, and many of the people in this county are REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY conservative.  (I live in a red county  )  As a matter of fact, when our newspaper showed a frame from the dress rehersal, where the lads were "covered" by newspapers.....people went off the frigging hook.  'You can't show our children nudity!!!"  was the warcry.
When, in reality, you see MUCH more than that at the beach or swimming pool.  And sometimes the gym.  Do we hear the cries there?  No, because they'd either be embarrassed, laughed at, or, WOULDN'T NOTICE AT ALL.

What does this have to do with Poser?  Nothing.  Other than the unfortunate feeling that some people have that we should be ashamed of our bodies.  Not to get all "religious", but God created some true wonders when He created the human body.  It's mostly only noticed when a baby is born...with those precious little fingers, toes, the cute little nose, those perfect eyelashes....and we either take it for granted, or hide it for the rest of our lives.
You'll notice that it's not often that young children feel the need to be clothed....and, usually, if they do, it's because they're cold....or their told that it's "proper" to be clothed.  (And, even then, it's usually when their cold  )

Every artist is different.  Create what YOU feel you need to.  Regardless of what program it is you use to get to the end result.  It could be argued that, because there are photographers that use their cameras to create porn, that every image I create with my camera is porn.  Or that, because there are erotic pencil artists, all pencil art is porn.

Now, see how silly those 2 statements look?

So, no.  Using Poser does not make you a pervert.  The only thing that can make you a pervert is being a pervert. ;)

RIGHT ON!  Me too.

They say that sex is like 90% in the head and the rest is physical so I think anyone that's against nakedness must have an awefully dirty mind or can not cope with the fact that their minds go there so everyone has to suffer and push down their own comfort with thoughts like that to appease those that want to control their own minds (and end up controlling others which never works out very well).  In the end they end up frustrated, dirty old men in the bookstores doing the hustlers or pinched, prune faced old bats that never smile and wear black and mourn their own sorry lives and all the missed out on!  Truly sad!

Create, get off and be happy about it.  It means your HEALTHY!  Nakedness is natural and sexuality is part of the human experience.  Not to say that sexual thoughts should rule your mind... if so, well.... then your a sicko and should be put in a room by your self to masturbate your self into oblivion!!

As I see it, it's another example of people mixing up nudity with porn.

Nudity isn't automatically porn, and porn doesn't necessaritly include nudity.

As for Poser being used to create BOTH porn and totally innocent artsy nudity, sure. It's the whole idea of Poser, you can make WHATEVER you want with it. If you like to make anime, you can get anime figures, or fluffy toon animals, or big-breasted women.

But what does that have to do with being a pervert?

As barrowlass said, perversion is in the eye of the beholder. Some religions require fornication to take place through a sheet with a strategically placed hole. To me, that's the top of perversion!

And yeah, I do nude people. I even make downright porn. If that makes me a pervert, then so be it.

Poser is for perverts?

Well, yes it is. As is any program (or other media), that can produce picture/sounds/statues that someone considers a perversion.

Get a game console. Buy/Download or otherwise obtain all the violent games for it. Go around shooting up/bashing up/carving up all the baddies.... Would they consider that a perversion (or you a pervert)?

Without ever touching Poser, you could (although I don't recommend it) use any other 3D program to create an animation of a large aircraft crashing into a couple of tall buildings. Just because you own those 3D programs, does that make you a pervert? or an incipient terrorist?
Of course it doesn't.

Poser is a tool. The fact that some blinkered idiots equate Poser with perversion is their problem, not yours.

Put your perversions into renders made with Poser and call them art..... what a lame excuse.

Poser is not for perverts, but most users seem to be into some kind of perversion..... unfortunally, since it has given Poser (and D/S also, even in it's short live) a bad name in the 3D world.

With most 3D applications you will see about 10% sensual images..... with Poser you only see 10% non sensual images. Even though Poser isn't for perverts they sure seem to be drawn a lot of them.

But that's no wonder it draws so many perverts, since most of the content offered for it just feeds these perversions.

But anyone can make what he/she likes, it's just so unfortunate that all of you choose Poser for your perversions.

The only 'bad name' I know of for Poser stems around a perception that it is 'clip art' work - which is true of a lot of renders. That one came up a lot on the Carrara boards and lists around when Daz bought Eovia.

Even that I would say is not a general perception, but something detractors to 3D claim, and modelers who resent the greater commercial viability of companies like Daz resent.

It also seems to be a frequent topic in the artzone chat. That chat room is a good place to go if you want to learn how much the modelers making the content sold here and at daz dislike the people buying their work. The way they speak of us is often very rude and insulting...

My problem with Poser-ing and perversion is that I've always done cheezy yet tasteful pinups with large breasted V3's etc.  I've always preferred well endowed women and I suppose I've let that (call it obsession, fascination etc) to filter in and dominate my Poser-ing...  Right now in my life I feel the use of the large breastedness is what's innappropriate in my Poser experience but I bet I'll start doing it again in the future...  I said it in my last reply in this thread that I'm a wobbler... C'est la vie!

Heh..meant to say the trouble is in the tool-user..;)

I made this up, but it seems so true

Goldsteins's Law - "The second form of information transmitted on any new media is always pornography"

how often have I been wrong?..;)
I remember in the early 80's, someone had made a pinup of Bridgette Bardot, topless on a  stool, done in *'s, #'s, !'s, and .'s.  This was on a minicomputer. People will use anything to make porn..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Quote - What ??..where's the NVIATWAS renders ??  I  WANT my nviatwas renders !!!!!!!! :)

I got plenty of them in my gallery, I did a whole advertising campaign using NVIATWAS just to show how versatile the genre could be if you wanted it to.

But yes, a lot of repressed religious types are Perverts also without ever having heard of Poser and trying to stamp out nudity. 2 famous examples of Cotton Mather and Frolo (From the Hunchback of Notre Dame) come to mind.

I'd agree not to accept anyone elses labels they try to put on you.
