If it helps any, consider this much like learning a foreign language. Sure, it's easy to memorize the basics of "How do you do?" and "Where's the bathroom?" and "Why does this cost so much?" -- but if you really want to express yourself, you need to learn the subtleties and nuances that make language expressive. Well, it's much the same with 3D: it's easy enough to start with the basic shapes and make something fairly decent -- a table, after all, is just five distorted cubes. But if you want to create something expressive, like any of Dreampaint's props, you have to know a little bit more to make it happen. And sure, it's not easy. But if it were easy, what would be the point? :)

Start with the tutorial sections here. You'll also find a wealth of material at www.poserpros.com (Well over half of the site is nothing but tutorials and discussions about technique). I run the P4 forum at poserpros, and I'll be posting a massive FAQ for basic users in the next week. It'll be explaining everything from how to get an article of clothing on a model to what happens when the lights suddenly turn off. Also, do a search through here for tutes by Dr. Geep. The man knows Poser inside and out.

The Dork and Don aren't considered by many to be very good. They lack morphs and need a bit of work to make them look real Like everything else, once you know how to work with them, the results can be pretty amazing. Dont write them off just yet. I happen to like the P4guy because of the ease of texture application and simplicity of body structure -- with Mike, I feel I'm shoving bales of cookie dough around sometimes, and the split-texture approach has contributed to the glut of MAT pose files needed. Just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Y'know, frankly, I dont care what one thinks of gays and lesbians and their place in the big bus of society. Don't like it? Well, y'know, life's full of disappointments sometimes, and folks like this are gonna have to do just a little better to get me down this time of year. Best to you, Xoco!

"Gay" is defined by a behavior. And only by a behavior <?i> So? It's still not a choice, Xeno. Get over it and move on. >> They have to tell you before you will know. And I bet that just bugs the be-jezuz out of you... :-)

You'll probably have to retexture some existing items to make it work. The jacket is fairly generic, and I would imagine it's easy enough to taper the pants to fit inside a pair of tall boots (which you can probably find at animotions). And I know I've seen the hat around someplace (the Greylight archive, perhaps?). But a pre-existing one? Dont think there is.

Hey, hun, I'm not getting into a bitch-slap session with you, but considering that I was quite content to mention one single thing, while you required over 24" of depth to make your point.... If the stilleto fits, wear it. :) Have a good one, eh?

I have a number of gay friends. Guys and Gals. They are not my friends BECAUSE they are gay. I don't avoid them because they are gay. We don't discuss their "gayness" at dinner. We don't shop at "gay" stores for them and then "straight" stores for me Well, let's take your sentence and rewrite it a bit and see if it makes a bit more sense for you. I have a number of black friends. Guys and Gals. They are not my friends BECAUSE they are black. I don't avoid them because they are black. We don't discuss their "blackness" at dinner. We don't shop at "black" stores for them and then "white" stores for me. See the point? It's not about our sexual practices (which is what most of the straight world seem almost unnaturally interested in) but our identity as gays and lesbians. It's more than who puts their sexual organ where; it's a statement of being. And you're right: there's no Heterosexual Pride Day. But, as my friend Alison Bechdel once pointed out, every day is Heterosexual Pride Day. :-) Don't begrudge us because we take one and leave you 364.

For myself, I find it vaguely amusing and somewhat interesting that, almost without exception, these items are demonstrated on female characters. Probably says more about this place than most folks are willing to admit, but, hey, there you are... :-)

More power to you, but perhaps you could explain what this has to do with "Renderosity issues such as FAQs, updates, ideas, improvements, events, navigation, feature use, and general site questions" - which (supposedly) is what this forum is for. Too easy. It's an event. :) Sorry if folks felt this was too OT for this particular forum. I'll remember that in the future.
