Hi Sharen, Thanks for all your great models! It's very generous of you to offer them. I'll be visiting your site and downloading like a madman since the folder I had all your models in went poof with my computer crash. When will I ever learn! Repeat after me " backup.. backup.. backup..."

Voodoo, I agree with you wholeheartedly. If it's at all possible I always use a photo reference when I pose hands or feet, and for pretty much the rest of the body too! I believe in general that if you are just posting an image because you can get it done fast and want the feedback that's great, but I think you are short changing yourself in developing as an artist. Some artist's are truly gifted and fast but I think most of us arent. I wont post anything until I consider it "done". When you produce a piece in any medium whether it's 3D or 2D or whatever, you should always ask yourself "is this the best I can do? Is there anything about this that could be better?" If you honestly answer yes than you're ready to post it or show it to people for opinions at least. If the answer is no than keep working on it, or start something new and come back to it at another time when you can look at it objectively.
Thread: What a bummer !!! | Forum: Vue
Dont feel too bad, I just lost about 5 weeks worth of work split between 4 or 5 different projects just because I was too dumb to back up my files. I've learned my lesson.

Thanks to everybody that's chimed in so far. I'm sure I'll get most of my favorite sites back in time. I was just about to store them in a text file for reference in case a crash did occur. I guess I've learned my lesson on this one the hard way (like normal). If anyone would like to suggest any other "cant live without" or even "cool but not many people know about it" sites, I'm sure other Vue forum visitors would be as thrilled as I will.

To Questor, thanks for posting a reply to kathym's request. I am looking for these type of items as well. I couldn't seem to download anything from the twosword site. I cant seem to read any of the japanese script either. If anyone else has any other links to similar items or can tell me how to enable windows to read japanese characters that would be great too. thanks, droyd
Thread: Import pz3 files--error invalid serial number of Poser. HELP PLEASE!!! | Forum: Vue
Hi Catharina, I'm too new to Vue to be an expert. I just thought I'd give you a possible solution just so you can get the PZ3 into the program. Vue seems quite quirky about how it works with Poser. At first it imported the PZ3's for me, then it didn't, now it does again. When it wouldn't accept the poser.exe location and refused to import the PZ3, I decided to try "load object" instead of "import object" and it brought the PZ3 in fine. Again due to the fact you're using propack this may or may not work but it's worth a try. droyd

Hi bloodsong, Thanks for the reply, that's 2 I owe you! I'll see if I can figure this out. I'm still pretty lost when it comes to this stuff. I'm sure I'll be bugging you again when I get close to making this work. Edit the cr2? Now I'm scared! droyd
Thread: a couple of final render size setup questions | Forum: Vue
Thanks to everyone for the good advice so far. I thought I'd jump back in here and give an update on the rendersaga. Since I posted the question I went ahead and rendered the scene with a 300 dpi, 2000 X 1125 resolution, standard antialias final setting, with render to disk. Vue went to work on it just fine. I didn't monitor it too closely but it seemed to finish it in about an hour to an hour and a half. The Vue display then went blank and it showed the status at 100% finished. At this point I decided to go online and come here to look up "render to disk" comments in the forum and see what I could find out about this phenonema before I did anything drastic. I will mention also that there was no activity on the hard drive at all regarding Vue before I went on line, so it definitely crashed. After reading over a bunch of comments about similar situations (and nightmares!), I decided to just "end task" Vue and restart it. It did ask me if I wanted to recover the color channel and also the depth channel image. I said yes and told it were to store the files. I then opened them in photoshop and they both looked ok with no noticable defects. The size of the color image was 28 X 15 1/2 inches, 2000 X 1125 resolution, but the reslolution was 72 ppi not 300! So more experimenting is in order (does it ever really end?). After reading over the other threads about render to disk or not rendering to disk I don't know what to think. Thanks again to everyone for their comments so far.
Thread: An introduction and a few questions | Forum: Vue
Hi bloodsong, Thanks for the valuable tip. I was sort of on the right track but I couldn't initially figure out how to paste the depth channel image into a photoshop channel. After taking your advice I got it to work. I couldn't wait to start messing with this and it works great! Even on the low res copies of my image the results are pretty cool! I cant wait to try it on my final version. To everyone else that's responded so far thanks as well! droyd
