On the subject of locking cameras: If I decide to render a scene from the camera view, I switch to that view and use the zoom and pan controls toset the camera into the position I want. Then if I have a character or creature I want to look at the camera, I select the eyes and set the "Point At" parameter to that camera. When I go to the Render feature the default perspective view setting will usually reactivate, so I reset it to the camera view again.
I rarely have more than one camera for a scene unless I want to do an animated scene that switches from one camera to another.Â
As for locking a camera into a position, I never do that, since I have not really had a use for a camera to be locked in a certain place.
Just thought I'd throw that in for you.
Thread: Adding Rigging to DAZ Studio Models | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Thank you for this suggestion. I will certainly try this and see what I can find. If I can learn the basics of rigging, I think the rest will come with a fair amount of practice. I recently checked out the guide PDFs for DAZ Studio 4 and found many of them to be incomplete. Along with the fact that most of them are WIP, and that there are several of them, I have to say that trying to learn what I need from them is a royal pain. It seems that for now I will have to rely on tutorials from third parties for most of my learning.

Update:
For those of you still waiting on my tutorial, I am still working on it. When I upload it I want it to be easy to follow. My reasoning behind this is that I know how frustrating it can be when the tutorial you are trying to learn something from is disorganized, or leaves something out that is important, or makes the process too complicated. Therefore, to keep from uploading something I would not like if I were a new Bryce user, I will continue to work on the tutorial until even the newest user can understand it.
Thread: The Bryce 7 Artist's Guide | Forum: Bryce
Update:
For those of you who are not yet ready to commit to getting this guide, I must point out that the Work In Progress status of the document is misleading. I have perused the document forward and backward, and have been unable to find any  instructional information that was incomplete. Ther might be some that isn't, but if so, it is minimal at the worst. It is probable that the WIP status is in reference to the IDL, (Intra Document Links), not working properly. In my copy the only ones that don't are in the Table of Contents, and if you use the thumbnail directory or the other directory that is provided in the same area, (upper left side of the screen underneath the title bar), you can get around the problem easily. There are also links throughout the document that will take you to  other sections that pertain to the part you are studying at the time. This is useful, because there may be something you don't fully understand and need more information on. These links will help you find that data if it exist in the document. Also if you are not seeing something you need, there is a search text box provided that you can type what you want into; however, you must use the right key words to use this box correctly. If you don't know what words to use, it is better to use other search methods.
I know that this is a very long document, (in the range of 1,250 pages), but it really is a helpful guide. If you are serious about taking your Bryce User skills to the next level, I reccommend this guide as a must have.

Thread: Those familiar with Babylon 5 *might* find this interesting. | Forum: Freestuff
As a science fiction series, Babylon 5 was the best of the ones dealing with space. I tried to keep up with the series, but there were circumstances that prevented me from seeing all of it. I really liked the Space Opera style, because it allowed you to get to know the characters well enough to understand why they were doing the things they did. Even the characters that were on the good side had hidden agendas, which is how it actually would be.
Thanks for the links, folks. I'll check them out as soon as I can.
Let me make a suggestion concerning the series: Let's see about creating a petition for getting the series back on TV as a rerun series for those of us who never got to see all of the episodes. I would like the spin-offs to be included.

Quote - Thanks, will have a good read.
Corrie
You're quite welcome. I'm sure you will find it useful.
I'll give you a tip on how I use this guide. I find the section that pertains to the thing I wish to learn, read it, practice the methods given in the guide with my copy of Bryce 7, and refer back to the guide to help with little problems if I get the wrong results. This helps me to learn and retain the knowledge I gain.
Let me know here how you are doing with the Guide and whether it is helpful to you.
Thread: Does anyone know how to make people in Bryce and only Bryce | Forum: Bryce
Quote - Thanks Everyone for answering so quickly
I thought as much making people in bryce is very very difficult I will definately try the Sculptris and makehuman as they sound ideal because Daz Studio 4 was not my cup of tea. I reckon the only way you could physically do it would be a symmetrical lattice (meta balls seem to crash bryce without fail at least on my computer).
Thanks guys thats helped me out a lot
Karl
Let me interject here on the use of symmetrical lattices. In my limited experience thus far, it is possible to use a symmetrical lattice to make a human figure in Bryce by selecting the picture option in the deep terrain editor and navigating to a photo or other picture you have available and clicking on it to load it onto the lattice. There are some problems with using this method, however:
A) The quality of of the shape will not match that of the original as the deep terrain editor creates height maps with darker colors representing low elevations and light colors reprsenting the higher ones. Therefore, if there are any shadows in the image that are in some odd places, (like maybe the shadow of a flagpole across the face of someone), it will distort the shape of that face as a dent in it.
B) The symmetrical lattice is a shape that has a mirrored copy of the shape of one side on its other side. This means that when you load a picture onto it, you will have a mirrored shape loaded onto the back side. Unless you are trying to make a figure of Janus the god with two faces, this could be a problem.
C) Any figure you make using this method will not have the textures or materials on them that make them look realistic. The best you can do is use this to make a statue, and because of the symmetry of the shape, you would need to keep one side toward the camera or view window.
D) There is no way to pose a single mesh object other than rotating the whole through the X, Y, and Z axes.

The MS PP software is part of the Microsoft Office package, which I highly recommend to everybody who uses the Windows OS. `There are several programs included. If you can learn to use all of them, it is a good way to manage a business. The 2 MS Office programs I use the most are Word and PowerPoint.
You don't have to use just those programs, however. You can use pictures done in another program or even photographs. I was even able to create a statue in Bryce from a photo. The effect is kind of low in quality, but it does work. All you have to do in Bryce's DTE is select New>Picture, then navigate to the folder where the image you want is kept and click on that image. The image will be pasted onto the terrain or symmetrical lattice you are working with.
Thread: Apollo Maximus Compatibility | Forum: DAZ|Studio
As I have already said, it seems that the last updates for Apollo Maximus were back in 2007. That's a long time in cyberspace! It seems that there may be some people still uploading products for the figure, however.

s for my support ticket, as I said before, I recieved a response the same day. It could be that the person or people that handle your type of request are not active in that area at this time. I agree that it is a long time to wait, (5 days). Try a little kick in the backside, so to speak. I mean let them know you are still waiting for a response. I did that back in December of last year. The staff got on the ball and apologized for letting my ticket go so long without being attended to.
As for the forced refresh thing, I have yet to try it. I have been away from my connection for a couple of days. I was working on learning to create, save, convert, and export object files from Bryce 7. I plan to try reaching DAZ 3D today. I'll let all of you know if I can.
Thanks for the advice concerning this.

As a new user of their products, I am still very interested in what they have to offer. When they offered three of their pro software programs for free, I had to jump on it right away, and I am not disappointed at all. My only problem for now with the software is the learning curve I face in Hexagon 2.5 Pro. It came with a built in instruction manual, so that problem won't last long. Soon I'll be producing all kinds of models for use in the other programs.
As for the forced refresh, how do I do that on the current version of Google Chrome? I don't use other browsers because of problems I keep having with them. IE and Firefox are corrupted somehow and I am unable to find a good fix for them.

I just checked to see if they are up and running and I am still getting the "Down for Maintenance" message.

Okay, I'll check it out!

Isn't it funny how so many people act like rats abandoning a sinking ship when things like this happen?
I say have patience. You can be certain that the problems will be fixed. So it has been taking some time to iron out all the bugs in the new site design. It may be frustrating to a lot of us but it is not reason enough for me to stop my dealings with them. After all, we must admit that the software and the supporting products are some of the best in the business. And from what I've seen so far, the software is not all that hard to use. Sure, the documentation has been lacking, but they are addressing that issue as well.
