I use postwork to get rid of Bryce's pregnant tree bumps. If you use Photoshop, you can use the "liquify" feature under Filters and nudge the bumps inward. You have to be aware of what the background is and avoid warping it. Working on a duplicate layer you can erase to top layer to get the background back. PSP might have some warping tool, not sure. You can also clone the bumps out

Hey Ron, great to see you. If you're going to dig up trout, there's bound to be some flies buzzing around. Yumm.

I joined Rendo and 3DCommune about the same time in 1999. There was a big war of personalities going on back then with threads full of bickering that were sometimes quite entertaining to read. I posted art at both places, but gravitated to 3DC and became a moderator and admin. I was alsoĀ a member of Renderosity's Cartoon Team for a couple of years at the same time, so I've played on both sides of the fence.
It's sad to see 3DC go and I wish Mark all the best.
Thread: Spot render shield | Forum: Carrara
As far asĀ the black shield showing up in a reflection, that can be a problem. I once did a render with a bunch of reflective spheres and after using the shield to do a spot render, everything looked fine. I finished postwork, then noticed each sphere had a tiny black square reflecting in it. You could duplicate the shield and make the one facing the scene reflective itself. Also, you might get a shadow from the shield in some cases. I don't even know if you can turn cast shadows off on an object, in Carrara.
Thread: Daz Studio 2.0 vs Poser 7? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I stopped upgrading Poser at Version5, which I haven't used much since switching to Daz Studio. One of the main reasons I switched was seeing what Dreamlight's lighting sets could do. They only work in Daz Studio and I haven't seen the same capabilities in Poser renders. Light Dome Pro is incredible for realistic outdoor scenes. Studio Light Pro is the equivalent for indoor, but can be applied anywhere. Also Mood Master give the artist more options. Since D/S is free, spending a few bucks on these products and some of the other plugins is well worth the investment.

Thread: So, what's your Best? | Forum: Bryce
I guess I think in terms of what is my favorite, rather then my best, but they're usually pretty close.
My favorite is "Ohso Chair"

If you're not averse to "cheating" with postwork, you can make two renders and then erase the top layer to reveal the lower layer. One render with the wet rock mat and the second with the dry rock mat. Here's one I did.Thread: Fish brush | Forum: Bryce
If you don't have Bryce 6, you can also save the fish brush file and make it a custom brush in Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. Then place grey fish on a black background and import that image into the Terrain Editor through the picture tab. Clip the bottom off and you have the save "school of fish" terrain.

It's not heresy if you graduate up to "real" hands-onĀ art. I use to work with Fimo clay.

Thread: Cartoons have lost the Last Old School Icon... | Forum: Bryce
Definitely a great one gone.
I'd add that Ollie Johnston is still alive. He was one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" who worked on many classic Disney animations. Still some Old School left.
