I think it is that you want to create a Map, for an existing Model; rather than create a Model, from an existing Map?If so, every 3D Figure/Object has what is known as a UV Map associated with it. This is what Textures are made from. It's like a 2D version of the Wireframe of a 3D model. If you have the UV Map for the model you want to map, you're aal set. If not you need to find it, or make it yourself with a nifty free program like UV Mapper. Then see the the thread I replied to the other day, at the attached link. It is s quick tutorial for how to create a Texture Map, with Photoshop.

Yes, thank you, SoCalRoberta! Have you ever clicked on my Signature?
This looks like iron-ons I've done myself. I'm still not not saying it's a raw deal though, iron-ons take alot of practice; it's just as well to just pay $2(with the shirt) and insure there are no errors. I've ruined plenty of T-Shirts, and just as many Transfer Sheets; trying to get this without errors.

Thread: Is photorealistic rendering possible with Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks muralist! This is why I vote Poser. I'd much rather spend %100 of my time learning one application; rather than %1 on each of a hundred application. It just takes practice. So far the complexity of Poser has'nt disappointed me, there is has always been more to learn.
And thank you jeffg3!
The latest technological catch phrase, in the 3D industry, is known as Sub Surface Scattering(SSS.) Poser has a Fast Scatter node; which is SSS, but apparently is'nt multi-directional, hence is referred to as faked.
Attached is my latest WIP, using Face_Off's HyperRealV3.py. I think he the most knowledgeable when it comes to realism for Poser. Once you become familiar with the parameters you can improve a medium complexion skin considerably, in just seconds!
bagginsbill is a close second. He's done free work for Apollo Maximus, some for V3, and is currently working on a Marketplace item for V4.
Poser's Material Room is really intricate. I would'nt suspect transfer to many other applications save Vue, which imports entire .PZ3s, would be very feasable.
Although I'd defnitely like to see a comparison between your renders in Poser, and that of Carrara. How long have you worked with each? I just got Carrara 5 Pro, and would appreciate the contrast.

From within photoshop any photo will do; even Texture Maps for other UV Maps(flattened 3D skin templates.) Basically what you'll be doing opening the template, in photoshop. Now make a useless selection, and click Select > Modify > Feather; then change the feather to about 5 pixels. If you'd made a good selection, before you changed the Feather, the selection would have changed; now you'll get what you select, at the feather we want. Selecting the Lasso tool, and draw around where you think the nose is(over the template.) Nose click Select > Save Selection; and name it Nose. Now save this file somewhere important. You're going to save a lot of these selections, and use them over and over; for Second Life. Now open the photo you want to make into a Second Skin Texture. Click Select > All, and then Edit > Copy. Now select the Second Skin Map. Click Select > All, and Edit > Paste. Then you're going to make the new layer's opacity %50; and then use the hit Ctrl-T(The Free Transform Tool) to resize the image so that just the nose is same size/shape as the template underneath. Now click Select > Load Selection, and choose the Nose selection you saved; but put a check in the Invert checkbox, before you click OK. Now hit the Delete key, on your keyboard. Everything on the layer, but the nose, should Clear; and the edge of what's left(the nose) should be a sharp edge, it should fade into Transparent somewhat slowly. Now change the Opacity of that layer back to %100. And repeat this whole process for all the other feature of the face; from as many photos as you can! Sometimes you can use two texture to get a nose, just make sure the bottom one is at %100 Opacity, and the top one is %50; to have half of each photo show through(not %50 Opacity on each.)

Poser comes with a python called collectsceneinventory.py. This script gives you the option to just list what files are associated with a scene; or even make a copy of each to a folder, along with a copy of the scene.
And P3Do Explorer will tell you what is associated with what.
