I imagine that they made LF free at the start because she was a completely new base and they wanted more people to try her.
But that's the point. You want people to try him? Then market him the same way. This is what I dont get: you spend all this time creating a male version — even a morph — because people have asked for one, then you cut it off at the kneecaps with a marketing campaign that appears all but invisible. Until I saw the note from bwldrd, I had no idea that LH was, even in its simplest form, available to those people who'd bought the pro version of LF. Now we're told that you cant use this morph in the version of LF that comes with the Poser upgrade.
Not saying you should give away the store, but this is just another instance where, adding it all up, this is something that will ultimately be sixty bucks for a male mesh, plus the cost of just the basic add ons just to make it workable. Seriously, did anyone think about that?

And for those of us who acquired LF as part of the Poser upgrade?
But that aside, no textures, no morphs... funny, I dont seem to remember that being the case when LF was released.
Oh well, not my circus, not my monkeys.....

Out of curiosity, will we ever be able to open this program without it calling home? The server blip was a minor inconvenience, but if it went seriously down, I imagine a lot of people would be pretty upset with things.
It looks as though the feature is here to stay according to the comments coming out of Rendo. Server blips are just one of the problems of this sort of protection as is all the grief that has caused by the change of ownership, all of which was predicted by many users when SM sneaked the feature into Game Dev.
So is the update issued on December 2 still a .2xx build? I think I heard it mentioned that this was a .3 build. Is it too much to hope that the phone-home thing has been taken out? Jenn? Anyone? Honestly, you folks have to know how annoying it is to the user base, so why are you keeping it in there?

Hello, folks. Not working, and the download page is not accessible.

Sam, can you post a screenshot of the materials setting for this? Now I'm really curious.

Very odd indeed. I've not seen that happen, but I wonder if maybe there's some shader work going on in the background with the original texture? That might explain why the resaved version works.

Main issue with doing this sort of thing in Poser is that it doesn't have the rigs to do it. This is what a student level (but fully capable) rig looks like in Maya, for example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3YKuj6qjAM&feature=emb_logo
Now try doing some of that in Poser with the rigs you have in various figures. The issues will become self evident to you.
Actually, if you really look at what's going on in that video, you could modify the existing Poser rigging to make it this particular. Most of the hair pieces these days may not have this kind of rigging, but the good ones come with plenty of morphs built in that do the more-or-less same thing.
But considering you're comparing something in Maya to something in Poser, the latter stands up pretty well over all. Like anything, you just have to approach it with an understanding that animation is a slow, tedious process — just as it is in Maya, I might add — but done right, it's pretty amazing.

Let's also remember that that clip is really low-end for Dreamworks. But Poser could do that. You just have to plan it out and storyboard before you start. It's not something that lends itself to improvisation.

Whenever you update from a previous install, make sure that you select the option to retain your custom preferences.
For some odd reason the panel never offers me that option! (iMac)
Yeah, I think thats a PC only thing. What I've been doing is making a duplicate Poser, saving the prior version elsewhere, and letting the update do its thing on the copy in the Applications menu.

To be brutally honest here, after seeing the limited previews for L'Homme, I want Orion more and more. I look forward to his release and would be more than happy to work up some texture packs for this.

Sorry, Sean, but here's the problem with that....vendors won't support a male figure because of the risk involved in loss of sales.
Then why bother introducing a new one in the first place? Why get a bunch of people excited about something that you felt from the start is such a risk that no vendor will touch it for fear of sales?
And thanks for making sure that customers such as myself are kept in their place, grateful for whatever crumbs we might get. So appreciated.
Y'know, we have some amazing vendors around here. I am in constant awe at what they can create out of nothing. But when it's a relentless parade of skankwear — even after the customers have said, "Hey, how about something that's not skankwear?" — all that talent just gets reduced to naught.
I still have some very small hope that this thing will be good, but after reading your comment, I'm even more doubtful it'll last that long. After all, you know, we're such a risk, and the world needs more than 850 bra and panty sets, because T&A seems to be the only thing the vendors know how to do anymore. So I repeat: why did you folks even start on this in the first place???
I'm outa this thread.

"Live with it."
Yeah, those of us who work with male figures get that a lot.
"If LH were a totally new figure there would be no compatibility whatsoever."
And so? Sorry, not seeing a problem with that.
:: sigh :: Whatever. Nothing in the Poserverse moves unless it has T&A, so I guess I should have foreseen this long ago. And I damn sure wont be surprised to find out, six months after release, that he's pretty much forgotten.
