1 machine = 1 cow, not 1 core = 1 cow. Doesn't matter how many core you have on one machine, one machine is one cow. 1 machine renders one tile at a time, but should use 100% power, not 10.

You can use your alpha to create the density production for your cloud layer. Best it to have a 16bit image, with fuzzy borders.
Thread: Function editor - Distance to camera, Position on picture.. etc | Forum: Vue
Questions we are asking ourselves too.... Except for Distance to object center, this one is easy. Use this node to drive the blending of 2 color nodes for an ecosystem population. Depending on the distance an ecosystem instance is to the underlying object center, one or the other color node will be applied to the instance. There is a tutorial about this function in the manual.

Hmm, is it when the machines turns off, and comes back instantly by just hitting any key? If so, this never worked for me. Render aborts at worse, or restarts when I bring Windows back up (this is when I'm lucky), but maybe we are not talking about the same thing? Sorry, my Windows is in french, and though my english is quite good, it isn't when it comes to computer vocabulary...
Thread: How put material on determined area? | Forum: Vue
Vue isn't a modeller. You cannot select polygons, vertices nor faces. You have several ways of doing this:
One is to create a greyscale map to define where the road and the terrain materials should be applied, and use this map to drive a Mixed material distribution.
Or you can paint your materials directly on the terrain inside the terrain editor.
I suggest you read the manual, there is a tutorial on how to paint materials.

There is a similar thread at cornucopia with SV Elite and Vue10, maybe it will help with your Vue 11 issue.

Ok, I see, I would've carved the stream in a terrain, and populated the terrain material, according to altitude.

Same as Mazak here, low rez are easier to use and manipulate, but otherwise, it's the same.

Made some tests, and offset from surface doesn't seem to be part of the population rules, as I thought. So use your Populate area brush in conjuction with the Lower effector, or use the Lower brush after you're done with the Populate brush.

Fast population doesn't act on the EcoPainter. Rocks are always painted/populated half buried, so using rocks isn't relevant, I'm afraid... Are you sure this offset setting is part of population rules, MNArtist? And how about using the Lower brush with the Population brush? Should work.
