Thread: Vue 5 Pro is here | Forum: Vue
I really don't think this is an add for e.on. I think the main issue is, that even if you like Vue, like I do, e.on has a confusing marketing and an even worse pricing for Europe. Well, there are a lot rumours around and you can't blame them maybe for all the confusion 'bout there product lines, but you can blame them for their pricing. ..and don't tell me other companies act the same way. That's no excuse for me. If they want to sell, they should know better...
Thread: Vue 5 Pro is here | Forum: Vue
Well they might win me back with reasonable prices. I would like to buy all three modules as a bundle. I don't mind, when Botanica is a bit limited. For major plants I always use xfrog, but for a lot of scenes Vue plants are very useful compared to alpha planes. Let's see with what they come up...
Thread: Vue 5 Pro is here | Forum: Vue
I'm still confused and a bit angry. Got my Vue5 update as late customer at a higher price than US citizens would pay for a normal update! The shipping costs doubled in 1 year (got Vue4 for the half shipping costs one year before). I bought it anyway and I like Vue5. Thought about getting the modules to get lightweight plants (I also own xfrog, but if you need a lot of trees, you better use Vue plants) and the other nice features. But this pricing in Europe is ridiculous. Sorry E-on, you've lost a customer, as long as you stick to this pricing. Waiting for an explanation from this FRENCH company.

This is absolutely what I was looking for, but I think I will need a lot of experimenting with it. I also posted a thread here about the new material system of Vue5. Didn't get much response until yet. Seems this is something only few people use by now, but it seems to have an extreme high potential. Any tutotials or other practical experience around? Thanks for your efforts - Singular3D
Thread: Vue 5 benchmark ? | Forum: Vue
Well, I decided to wait with a new PC until early 2006. BTX board layout and power supply is coming together with new PCI-Xpress graphic cards and serial ATA drives at a reasonable price. I also hope that the AMD 64bit architecture will be used in future to speed things up and allow us to adress more than 4 Gigs RAM. Rendering with GI isn't so bad. A complex picture only needed 5 hours on my PC. Just remember that caustics are also CPU heavy.
Thread: Vue 5 benchmark ? | Forum: Vue
You're definitely right about the CPU speed. The RAM may only be of value, when you render a large scene. The 2100+ seems to be equaly fast on the interface to the RAM compared with the 2000+. It's interesting that the graphics card doesn't make a noticable difference. Seems no 3D features of the hardware are used.
Thread: Vue 5 benchmark ? | Forum: Vue
This is my result: 4h 27min 11secs (1sec faster :-) ) Athlon XP 2100+ 1 Gig RAM (266MHz) GeForce Ti4200 (64MB) Windows XP Pro Vue 5.03-2 DirectX 9.0b Seems almost identical. Vue seems to be equaly fast on 2000 and XP Pro.

This is awesome. Seems like we are now able to do some Terragen like terrains in Vue. I always wanted to combine the awesome terrains from Terragen with the much more sophisticated options from Vue (plants, props, figures,...). Could you please post your settings too? Thanks for your investigation... - Singular3D
Thread: Glitch running the Real SkinShader | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This should help and make the script language independent. I always was annoyed by the way Poser handled the german versions. In P4 they even renamed the basic directories and so you have to move manually the unzipped products to the correct directories.
