Thread: Eldena Ruins | Forum: Vue
Hi Peggy . . . 8^) In my experience with Vue 4.1 & imported textures so far, I pretty much rely on UVMapper to do my texturing on any of my .OBJ model files. 1st of all, none of my 3D modeling programs export any of their own, ( native ), material files with the .OBJ model. 2nd: I've had some problems trying to calculate the mapping orientation of imported textures in Vue 4.1, that come along with the imported .OBJ models. So, I use UVMapper, = ( free version ), to do all my .OBJ texture mapping, then save the newly created .OBJ file & the newly created UVMapped texture template, in it's own folder. I load the UVMapper, ( texture template ), into PhotoShop or PaintShopPro where I can create a new texture for each part of the object. Or you can use existing textures pretty much the same way. After that, any of the newly created UVMapper .OBJ files load into Vue 4.1 without any visible textures, but all you have to do is to edit the gray Material file shown with the imported object, & choose = "Mapped Picture", go to where you saved the UVMapped .BMP edited file in PhotoShop, & load it. The only other thing I have to do is set the, ( Picture Scale "Y = -1.000" ), & that's it. The nice thing about this procedure is you can still select each separate sub-object & edit it's own individual Material attributes. This is the best & most dependable procedure I've found so far using imported textures in Vue 4.1, it sounds a little lengthly, but once you get used to it, it's quite simple. I don't know if this will help you or not, but it's the best information I have at this time, sorry. Have a good one . . . Mark. ;^)
Thread: Vue 4.1 Problems - - - Need Help ! | Forum: Vue
Hello Again . . . OK, I finally figured it out. When I 1st downloaded the 4.1 patch, it was the partial patch, ( size = 6,540KB ), & it was to be installed over the 4.06 patch, which I had installed on my Vue at that time. When I did the re-install of Vue yesterday, I didn't have, ( any longer ), the 4.06 patch to install over the CD installation, & had forgotten the procedure of the 4.1 patch. Anyway, when I arrived back home today, I un-installed Vue 4 again, went to E-On's site & downloaded the "FULL" 4.1 upgrade or patch, ( size = 9,259KB ). After re-installing Vue 4 from CD, I then installed the "FULL" 4.1 patch, & everything seems now to be going just fine, loading any trees, plants, or what ever. I thank all of you for your suggestions on this matter, but I should have known better than to try what I did. In all honesty, there are so many patches out there for all the different softwares that I own, I forget the right procedures, for the right software patches, for the right programs. It's all very confusing sometimes! Anyway, all is back to normal I'm sorry if I've bothered any of you, for something I could & should have figured out for my self. Have a good one all . . . Mark. ;^)

Thread: That free XFrog on Digit mag | Forum: Vue
Good Morning . . . 8^) Just a quick message for Tesign & MightyPete, in your posts on this thread you sounded like you had negative feelings about, having to have a new key or serial number each & every time you have to install or re-install a software program, used as it's security protection. Also, I believe you both stated you had desires for owning Zbrush 1.5. Well, not to bust your bubbles or anything like that, but I've had Zbrush for almost 2 years now & that's exactly the type of security protection they use for Zbrush! During the first 1 & years of use the serial # continually expired. So you couldn't use it until you e-mailed Zbrush to obtain a new, ( different ) one, each & every time. When the year 2002 occurred, Zbrush quit working for all users & you had to e-mail for a new serial # to use Zbrush. Now they have the new 1.5 version out for almost 2 months now & serial #'s have expired once again. So, if you do purchase Zbrush, this is something your going to have to put up with. Every single time you re-install Zbrush, for what ever reason, your going to have to e-mail for a new "security protection" serial #. One final point I might mention, there have been several posts on their forum about Zbrush using, " 100% " of your processor power continually while Zbrush is open. Myself & several others have complained to Pixologic about this problem, but they won't admit to this being any type of a bug or problem. All you have to do is open Zbrush & do nothing more, & your processor is running at 100%, more than any other software I've ever used. One user has complained that he was using Zbrush on his Athlon powered laptop, & when ever Zbrush was open, even just sitting there doing nothing, his laptop started getting red hot, after about 10 minutes, due to the 100% processor usage. But Pixologic still claims there are no bugs or problems with their software. Anyway, just thought I'd throw this tad of information your way, & you guys have a good one . . . Mark ;^) PS: ( IMHO, I think $400.00 is a little too much to spend for Zbrush, for what it will do. )

Good Morning Guitta . . . 8^) I'm sorry, but I have to tell you this: ( I had a lot of bugs in my copy of Vue 4, when I 1st bought it, but after I sprayed it with "Raid", bug spray, all the bugs have disappeared. Now I have no bugs at all!!! Ha Ha Ha. ;^) I'm ashamed of myself . . . very corny, I'll leave now, & you have a good one Mark.
Thread: VUE D'ESPRIT OCTOBER CONTEST IS OPEN | Forum: Vue
Good Morning Guitta . . . 8^) I just downloaded the "October's Vue Challenge" file, to see what I had to start with. It will probably be a great project, or challenge for most of you users, but I don't think I'll be able to do anything with this file. It doesn't have a lot of polygons, but there are over 700 objects, & my poor'ol "PIII 500 Windows98 SE" system just won't handle that many objects very easy. I tried to render the scene, with just the downloaded file, plus I added ONE light, to see something, & it took over a half an hour for a little 640 by 480 render, with the one light added. If it takes this long to render at this small size, without adding any more objects, then I can just imaging how long it would take to do a render, each time I would add another object & or light, so I could see how it's going to look. Plus, I can't really tie-up my system all day, waiting to render each new view, for each new object placed in the scene, due to the fact that I only have one system, & I use it off & on all day for other graphics. Anyway, GOOD LUCK to all those who have a system which can handle this challenge, but I'm afraid I'll have to pass on this one. Some day when I build another, MORE POWERFUL system, I'll be able to handle a project or challenge like this one. Thanks for the challenge offer & starting scene, & you all have a good one . . . Mark. ;^)

Good Morning Guitta . . . ( California Time ) 8^) What a wonderful improvement over your old site!!! It's very fast loading, a really great layout, & everything loaded without any problems, ( on my Windows 98SE system ). I didn't have the time to view all of your different areas this morning, ( just the images category, they are beautiful ), but I will visit the rest of the areas later today. Viewing your images gives me so much incentive to create with Vue 4!!! I hope you get your "Web Cam" functioning soon, "I enjoy looking at French Girls in the morning" actually ALL girls at any time, HeHeHe. Anyway, I'm so glad you did build your new site. Thanks for the link, ( it's in my favorites ), & you have a good day . . . Mark. ;^)
Thread: Texture Mapping Question??? | Forum: Vue
Good Evening all . . . 8^) Thanks to all of you for your replies. But I've quit trying to figure it out, & downloaded "UVMapper" to use for these types of things. Now I can import any object into Vue 4.1, with the "UVMapper" texture applied to it, & it maps & renders just fine. I just found it too much work, trying to find out what the right inputs to enter were, so the textures would map properly. Now using "UVMapper" there is no figuring out of anything. Once you create your image or texture map, in "UVMapper", import your object into Vue 4.1, then select the UVMapper image for mapping onto the object, everything falls right into place. Again . . . I appreciate all of your responses, & you all have a good one . . . Mark. ;^) PS: ( Hello Guitta, long time no talk. I bought Amapi 6 a couple of weeks ago, for modeling, & so far I really like it, but I've been spending most of my time learning it. Be sure to behave yourself, & I'll talk to'ya later. )
