Thread: My Last Minute Decision on the Preorder of P6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Fake SSS? Yep, with fake GI as well, because I can't stand the look of standard raytracing :-) I'll try to post an example later, since I'm off to bed now.

EricofSD, please tell me I am misunderstanding what you are saying. I am getting the impression that you don't think Poser 5 can reflect obects in the scene, and that you must first render and save an image file that is then fed to the environment map node. This is totally incorrect. You plug a raytrace node into the reflection color input and enable raytracing under render options. Viola, your sphere reflects whatever is in the scene.

Chipotle is also a most excellent fast food chain. Much better than Taco Bell/Bueno, although limited in menu.Thread: Us brits being ripped off again? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Thread: strange light shadow problem in 4.03 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser began this irritating behaviour with 4, and it has not been fixed yet. Hopefully it will be gone in Poser 6. Basically, what happens is that it uses a faulty naming system for new lights vs old ones, and when you attempt to load one type over the other, the lights already in the scene get disabled, and new, shadowless lights are added. One workaround is to add as many or more new lights to the scene prior to loading from the library. This will ensure that only pre-existing lights, which have shadowcams, are used. Unfortunately, this will leave you with a bit of a mess if you decide to adjust any of the lights afterward.

Thread: Look at the lighting goodies in P6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OMG, my stupid ISP can let through a good 7-10 actual OBVIOUS spam messages a day, yet CL gets blocked. (Yes, I know it is my ISP without a doubt; I had to get someone to resend info a while back for an item that I had PAID FOR, but never got an email back to activate). And I've been debating whether or not getting broadband would be worth giving up my current email address... Sorry to go OT, but it boils my blood to (almost) miss out on fantastic info like this due to inept spam-blocking software. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
Thread: OT? Please help me create my own dingbat font glyph | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Font Creator is the best solution I've found. Have you tried asking questions in the forums? I still haven't managed to create a complete font, but that's just because I'm lazy. Creating a simple custom dingbat font is incredibly easy, and I haven't read a lot of the documentation. I really don't know where you're stuck, so I can't give you any advice except once again to check the High-Logic forums.

MarbleCLAY is a great complement to Wings3D. I personally prefer modeling polygon by polygon at low resolution in MCL, then subdivide and tweak in W3D. Plus MCL now has Lightwave-style patch modeling.Thread: Why do some people think Poser isn't art? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If a pile of bricks and an unmade bed are art then poser certainly is, too. Or a bed covered with ham (see link). Sorry, just wanted to point out that your average "art critic" is a complete idiot. If society functioned like those types of critics, I could stand on a street corner with a miniature umbrella up my nose and say I'm a policeman, and would then be legally able to arrest people. Then someone would say "Well, if some guy standing on a street corner with a small umbrella up his nose is a policeman, then my boiling pot of feces is soup!". There is a time and place for avant garde art, as well as abstract art, but items like the above are just pure crap, stretching the meaning of "art" in much the same way that spyware EULAs stretch the term "user permission". Now excuse me while I attempt to convince Jim Burton to send me a copy of his dead horse so that I may render it in a temple with a nekkid Vicki beating it ;-P

Yep, and if you need a color inverted image, simply use a "color math" node instead of the "math functions" node.
Thread: How to change INTERFACE OF POSER5 , any idea ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Additionally, if you want to change the color of almost every widget in Poser 5, edit the following in Photoshop (MUST be Photoshop, PSP can edit them, but will not be able to save them properly for Poser 5 to be able to use them): 23000_materialRoom.psd 25000_Parameters.psd 25000_Parameters6.psd 26000_background.psd 26000_utility.psd 28000_faceRoom.psd utilityWidgets.psd These contain everything except the libraries palette, which I cannot find in any of the PSD files. If anyone knows where the libraries palette is located amongst the PSD files, please fill everyone else in, since that ugly doodoo color is a crime. When/if you edit these, make sure that you keep up with which layers were hidden, and save them back that way.
