Thread: Would anybody be interested in this... | Forum: Bryce
Cool. I was just perusing through the (W) forum, and there are some great tips to get me using that rather than UVMapper. I'm hoping to experiment some later tonight. Nice texture.
Thread: realistic enough? | Forum: Bryce
Have you applied a reflection map? Like a picture of a living room with a big picture window or something. Your settings look like a good comprimise between diffuse and reflectivity, so, if a reflection map were applied, I believe it would be more realistic.

Well, to qualify a bit, Bjn has said he is dropping his personal efforts for further development of Wings that will work on Jaguar. He also has said he will be working on Wings for all platforms a lot less than he used, because he has other projects. My observations of Bjn, though, is that he is more prolific on a bad day than most programmers at their very best. Plus, he has said he may rev up Wings again in a few months again, when he "... gets [his] inspiration back." When he was totally jazzed about Wings, back when he first started this project, we used to get four or five new releases a week, and I saw in those days sometimes as many as three in one day, which even occasionally included something large he'd just polished up, along with bug fixes. I agree that we likely will not see anything like that again, but then Wings is pretty awesome as is. If we never saw another release, I'd be a happy camper. It's just a great program. Meanwhile, I do not by any stretch of the imagination proffer myself as a Wings expert, but I would like to say this: I stand ready to lend assistance to anyone who wants to learn Wings. Granted there are things I do not even know about the program, nor use, but I have been able to accomplish almost any modeling task I try with this great program. Another guy, username GetaVe, on Renderosity's Wings forum has put up a high-quality video that goes through a lot of Wings's basic functions for the beginner. It is a 50 mb download, but I would highly recommend it if you want to get a jump start. Here's a link: Beginner's Wings Video

I've used Wings since the beginning. You don't need three buttons either. I use two just fine. Once you try the program for a while, you'll find it is very easy. Wings is, and is set to remain, free. I'd recommend it. In my place of business, I use Rhino and/or Wings for all my projects. Bryce normally is my renderer of choice, too.

Isn't a Snickers still called a "Marathon" bar in England? I couldn't find Snickers in England or Wales, but Marathon looked the same and tasted pretty similar. I'm also in gets-down-to-80-in-August country. We're finally seeing nights get into the 60s.

It is the town in Colorado where I grew up. The whole place is at its longest and widest eight blocks by five blocks, respectively. From the house by the red dot, my childhood home, I had less than a block out my back door to "the hill," which was a tree-filled alluvial area that led to the cliffs, and I was gone for the day, never to see another person all day.
Incidentally, the elevations just ouside the extreme left of the image and the extreme right actually are about 3,000 feet higher than the town.

Thread: Will sell my body for Bryce 5.5 and 6 beta-testing... | Forum: Bryce
In all seriousness, who does get to do beta testing? Bryce has changed hands several times, so we don't have history to fall back on. Does DAZ traditionally bring outsiders in to beta test their products? Just curious.

powweb.com is what I use. I have a gigabyte of space, with, like 5 gigs of transfer per day. Yep, per day. Cost $7.77 per month. Domain registration at present appears to be free. Mine wasn't, but it was reasonable at the time. Anyway ... love it. Service has been great. John

Uh-oh. Now I'm going to have to actually do something to my site to bring it up to date. Just saw the banner at Worlds of Bryce. Lots of my newer renderings aren't there, and I have still not done any models or tutorials. Man, you're quick getting it up. Thanks. :)

Love the robot. How did you do the floor? I really like it. I tried to do something like this for a hangar floor, and I didn't have much success. Would you consider a tutorial?

I guess this is one of those times when it actually pays to be a sorry artist. None of my stuff has been lifted that I can see. ;) I recognize a few, however, but none I can quite pinpoint in the 3d section, though I didn't spend much time wandering through there. The web design is rather awful.
