Quote - and here in 7.5 pre release.... is it a bug or a new feature I don't know. But this will cause much trouble.

I think in 7.5 e-on did in fact change how diffuse light color works for all indirect lighting models. It now relies exclusively on what you set the "overall skylight color" to. This makes more sense to me as the additional "Light Color" box is redundant. To change the color to your original blue, set the Overall Skylight Color.

I have seen this on rare occasions, but I'm not sure what caused it. If you can't replicate it reliably then there is no point in reporting a bug if it can't be reproduced.
Thread: RENDER PROBLEM - REDUCING SIZE OF POSER FIGURES | Forum: Vue
If your want to reduce the size of the Poser objects, I would collapse all of the materials in each of the Poser models in Vue to maybe one or two materials (one for the skin, and one for the clothes). Frankly, I think the bigger problem is going to be the amount of cpu and memory needed to compute the reflections on the water given the size of render you ar talking about.
Thread: Is e-on struggling for cash? | Forum: Vue
I don't sense that they're stuggling for cash as much as they are trying to implement a business model that's more in line with what the rest of the industry is doing such as offering a professional line of products with maintenance and a more predictable, regular release cycle (e.g. one majoir release per year instead of one every 2 years). I think the Esprit offer is an attempt to get Pioneer users to move up. I actually like the fact that e-on is now commiting to include Version 8 with the purchase of maintenance.Â

ArtPearl, step back a little bit, take a deep breath, and gain a bit of perspective on your bug situation. You are too good of an artist to be so impatient. As I see it, since you installed Vue 7 four  months ago, you have reported 12 bugs. 5 of these are already fixed and working (if you include bug 6).  1 is fixed by e-on but coming out in a later build (Bug 5). 1 isn't a bug at all but changes in how Vue 7 works (Bug 10). Another one (Bug 12) isn't a bug period. 1 bug can't be reproduced (Bug 8). 1 is a feature request (Bug 11). And so you are left with 2 bugs as yet unresolved:
The Dislexia bug (Bug 7) sounds like an important one to get fixed since this will have a major impact on your workflow and can lead to unwanted input errors. Are you using a wireless keyboard by chance and perhaps getting some interference? I had this happen to me on an older PC wireless keyboard that would sometimes go batty when my cell phone rang.Â
The number overflow display (Bug 9) does absolutely nothing to impact your workflow or the integrity of the scene. It's a user interface display annoyance to be sure, but would understandably have a very low priority to get fixed.
So as I see it, you have one high priority bug that you should be focused on (Bug 7). The danger you are going to run into is the "boy who cried wolf" syndrome by insisting that all of these bugs are indeed issues that demand an equally high priority. They don't and they shouldn't. Invest your valuable time and energy on the high priority items and have a bit of patience and understanding on the ones that aren't.

Will,
Can you post a small pic of the bumps in maya versus those in Vue. Perhaps if we see it, we can suggest some other improvements. Here are some other things to check:
Render settings: are you using texture filtering, what are your texture AA setttings
Did you try inverting the bump depth - for example, if the depth is set to 0.5 try setting it to -0.5 and see if this makes a difference
I assume you are using Object Standard mapping for the bump map material - yes?
Thread: Imported bump quality | Forum: Vue
Hi Will,
Check to see that BiLinear Interpolation is enabled for the bump bitmaps. Go into the material, and right-click to enter the function editor and then select the "Projected Texture Map" node of the bump map. Make sure BiLinear Interpolation is selected.

As someone who develops software on both PCs and Macs I can tell you that it's much more difficult to get things working consistently on a Mac - particularly invovling threading, multi-core processing and true 64-bit operation. Apparently, most of these issues are going to be addressed in Snow Leopard (10.6) which will support a true 64-bit kernel. It will also require anyone developing 64-bit apps to use the Cocoa framework api instead of Carbon which is a nightmare in itself. Not trying to make excuses for e-on or Apple but it is what it is.

Quote - Â Hi there, IÂ didn't really understand the newsletter.
If I do want to buy the 7.5 upgrade what is the best thing to do.  I bought vue 7 xstream when it first came out.  I don't remember seeing a maintenance package being offered.
If IÂ buy a maintenance package now then can i get vue 7.5 immediately?
Love esther
Yes, when you get the maintenance package, you can download a pre-release version of Vue 7.5 immediately.

Quote - *The cost of the upgrade to the next version of Vue will be the same
whether you upgrade from Vue 7 or Vue 7.5THAT bit proves E-On have lost their %$king minds!! The SAME price to upgrade, even if I spend $295 to get version 7.5?! RETARDS!!! A$$HOLES!!!!
I got free upgrades from lightwave 8.0 to 9.5 by comparison.:cursing:
Sorry for the language, but E-On have been smoking the corporate bong for sure! Jeesh
I think the point that e-on was trying to make is that is may be more cost effective to buy maintenance at $395 which will get you the 7.5 release and Version 8 when it becomes available. Given that the Vue 6 to Vue 7 updgrade is priced at $395 and will probably stay the same or go higher for Vue 7 to Vue 8, the $395 maintenance plan may be the way to go to lock in a price for Vue 8 and get access to the 7.5 release. At a minimum, I do like the fact that e-on is not going penalize me economically if I decide not to get the 7.5 release. I do wish there were some more details on what's in 7.4 and what they are thinking about with Vue 8. It would make the buy/no-buy decision easier.

Looks to me like most of the new features are really aimed at higher-end studios/users. The terrain material painting and spherical terrains/planets looks kinda interesting though. I wonder how much of the new stuff will find its way into 7.4.?

It looks like you have a couple versions of Python installed on your machine with the default version being the the 2.5 Version you have installed on your C: drive. Normally this wouldn't be a problem. but it appears that the 2.5 version of Python you installed on your C: drive is setting some Windows registry values that point to the wrong place. What I would recommend is to
upgrade (free) to SkinVue6.3 at Cornucopia 3D - there is a fix in SkinVue6.3 that solves this problem by forcing the import of wxPython to use VuePython paths as the first search path versus anything you might have in your registry.
