Wabe is right -- In Vue 4 you can't open a poser file with poser running. Maybe this was corrected in Vue 5.
Thread: Water | Forum: Vue
To get the type of water you want you need to adjust the noise level parameters and or the scale of the water. Try adjusting the scale first by making it larger in the material window at the upper left. If this is not to your liking, then open up that water material and play with the bump scale and noise parameters. The function editor discussion in the manual should help you out on this.
Thread: Why is this happening? | Forum: Vue
If you want to scale up the height, just select the terrain in the Front or Top views and then pull the scale handle upward.

Also make sure you are not running Poser during import. But Wabe's suggestion is right -- make sure all of your poser files point to the correct Poser runtime library path. I have Poser 5 and 6 but all of my content is in the Poser 5 runtime path. If you start mixing these paths, then you will have problems.

You need to desaturate your images if your are going to display them on a TV montitor. Photoshop and PSP both have filters which can desaturate your images to be NTSC and PAL safe.
Thread: Lost expression | Forum: Vue
Save the file as a Poser 5 file in P6 and you won't loose the expressions. P6 puts all the morphs (expresssions included) in a separate file that Vue doesn't understand.
Thread: Fake Subsurface Skin Scattering in Vue | Forum: Vue
Re: bruno021 As I understand the SSS effect as implemented by FaceOff and others, as the object polygon becomes more parallel to the main light source, the polygon should be tinted more red (e.g. more red in the shadows). Am I missing something here?
Thread: Vue 5I Realistic Skin Shader Material | Forum: Vue
I need to develop a Python script to adjust the spot, base texture and bump variables interactively. It still requires too much tweaking depending on the zoom level.

Thread: NEWBIE_ASKS:What exactlyMakesRenderingSlower????? | Forum: Vue
There are two fundamental parameters that dicate how fast you can render (independent of computer speed): 1. Scene complextity (e.g. number of objects/polygons, size of texture maps, use of transparency, number of lights, etc) and 2. Desired Quality (e.g. Rendering mode, Rendering quality etc). Transparency and reflections are big cpu hogs and in the case of your trees, this might have been in play.
Thread: WTH is going on here....saving as .TIFF won't load whole image | Forum: Vue
Don't save as 16-bit TIFF - PSP can handle these files. Save the file out as a photoshop file which PSP does handle quite well (masks and transparencies)
Thread: Poser 6 to Vue5 File Import Problem | Forum: Vue
Set your preferences to save the file in P5 format and that should solve the problem. P6 saves the morphs as an external file (for some unknown reason) and that screws up Vue.

Looks fantastic - the function mats for the caustic-like water material are particularly good.

I think most everyone has had to wait at least several weeks before getting their copies of V5I. Believe me, it's well worth the wait. It blows Terragen and Bryce completely off the charts and now rivals 3ds MAX in many areas. It sounds like you are getting well prepared by reading this forum and the backroom -- this will be time well spent. Welcome aboard!
