Judy is a majorly reworked, higher-resolution Posette body with a morphed Dork head, mapped to take V1/2 textures. Don is the same except based obviously 100% on Dork. Stephanie (1) is based on Michael(1/2)'s mesh (they take the same textures). Ockham is Albert Einstein's head on a reworked, lower-resolution version of Winston Churchill's body(!!!). Ok, maybe I made that last one up ;p

re: Setup Room Just to confirm what face_off said: yes, the group must have the exact same name as the bone's internal name, and it is case-sensitive. For example: groupname: lFoot bone, internal name: lFoot bone, name: Left Foot

Nice :) I was using a pose file to do this, with the same location-shifting problem as above. Thanks svdl.
Thread: Feedback for Skin Lab 2? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I tried...to download it. The site was under heavy traffic so I couldn't get in :( I'll try again in a while :) Or, since this is your own material (with some provided freely by others) that you are distributing free, upload it to the Poser newsgroup, and relieve yourself of some bandwidth problems :)
Thread: Press Release from Curious Labs - Shade | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Fortunately for all of us, any news about new Curious Labs products will also be available through other channels. I'm certainly not going to wade through the Cluttered Flea Market..er, Product Showcase forum just to search for the odd post by CL. This reflects very poorly on the merchants here, many of whom are actually decent folks, and also illustrates yet another of the reasons why Poser and its users are regarded with such disdain by users of high-end software and members of other 3d communities.
Thread: PoserFusion for Shade 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A lot of us do not ever go to the Product Showcase, since we aren't interested in third-party add-ons so much. As such, I would not have seen this post, since the forum it "should" be posted in is not considered relevant to my interests. However, new versions of Poser are. Personally, I would not be bothered by announcements of a similar nature with regards to Vue/Bryce/etc as well, but similar to what Tunesy said above, thousands of adverts for characters/clothes/props/etc by third-party vendors would render the place unviewable. Renderosity already enforces this fairly strictly for even other software vendors, so there aren't announcements for Vue/Bryce/etc in here, so Poser ( and Curious Labs products) may be tolerated, because they produce the main product for which this forum was created. p.s: I wish to file a complaint about megalodon's posting above, as it is in direct violation of my patent on a "method of voicing one's concerns in a public or private forum, by means of either speech or hypertext protocol." I demand 1 billion pesos, or the moon, whichever is rounder :p

" What is the preview material bug?"
I believe he is referring to the (somewhat rare in my experience, but annoying nonetheless) bug where the material room previews stop working until Poser is restarted. I haven't run into it much, so I've never gotten a mind to chase it down, but one might go hunting for some errant cache file, much like the shadowmap bug had. Message edited on: 08/28/2004 03:55
Thread: No good stupid lighting.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Without any details about your scene, there's really no way to tell, but one thing that might be a problem is if you have a lot of elements in the scene, some might be blocking the lights. Since there is no realtime shadow display, the scene will look fine in preview, but when rendered will become very dark because everything is in shadow. Also, shader nodes don't display in the scene preview, which could be another factor, but probably not in this case.
Thread: This is not Bryce... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
stewer said: So what would you say is missing for "that Bryce look"? Make the ground a reflective surface with a slight turbulence displacement, and add a plane prop with a displacement node set to about 5 in the background. Optionally, also surround Judy with reflective gold spheres. Then post the image elsewhere, and ask if anyone can tell what it was rendered in, then wait for the 1000 replies of how obvious it is that Bryce was used.

Thread: Easier camera positioning | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I opened Poser ProPack, and can see the other cameras, but they are all hanging out behind the main camera, so try rotating the view around and see if you can see them. And why are you using Poser 4 if you have 5?

Tip: don't click the camera's name to see it, click the eye beside it. If you click its name, you will be looking through it.

Installing XP on an old system is a bad idea for many reasons. If you've gone that long without buying new hardware, now is the time to buy new hardware. Hewlett Packard makes some very good, cheap systems which are perfect for Poser/3d AND gaming. Look up a320n, which is what I have, only difference is that I added an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. Runs $600 or less, $850 if you add in the Radeon.

Yes, it was called 3D Exploration/3D Explorer. Right Hemisphere was forced to change the name to reflect how far into your wallet you had to dig in order to afford their version ;p No link, and btw, it was $30 shareware, not free.
