Start with basic clothing. Paint it blue. Add a gold stripe down the side of the pants. Look for freestuff props, as noted above, that will finish the outfit. There's even a bandana that will work for you on one of the pages (sorry, don't remember where I found it, just that I know it's out there).

Thread: Forgive me for posting here as well as sending e-mail... | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Thanks, guys. Much appreciated for your assistance. Just so everyone else knows, this is something about being a first time purchaser. Rsity sends an ebot request to confirm certain c/c info, and AOL (my home base) tends to block those right out of hand with their new internal spam controls (I;ve had problems with this before when trying to get serial numbers for new software). But the folks here were real quick to take care of the problem -- many, many thanks!

Thread: special announcement from daz | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am thinking that since the message was released to the PC members only at DAZ, then posting this here openly is in violation to DAZ's intentions with their post. Since it affects everyone who buys from DAZ, BFD. If they wanted to restrict it to their precious Platinum Club, they should have left it in one of the So Terribly Exclusive Only a Few Members Can See It fora. A buyout? I rather doubt it. Here they are, getting ready to release what they must assume will be the flagship software for all, and they're gonna let someone else make the profits off their hard work? A bunch of control freaks like DAZ? Sorry, dont think so.

Thread: What is it you want exactly from the Poser Forum here at Renderosity? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have no issues with the search engine we have right now; it seems to handle my needs pretty well. But clearly it's something other folks want addressed, so maybe it's time for it to get a little spruce-up. OT posts? No. Emphatically. This is a Poser forum that receives scores of new posts every day. If one really wants to share news about one's new job or one's new baby, there should be (and probably is already) a community forum for such things. This is about Poser, remember? I realize income drives this site, but can we do something about the constant barrage of banner ads? (The supposedly-WIP "oh look at my new character up for sale next week" posts vaguely skirt the issue, but we could definitely use a tighter hand on those, guys.) I've watched as this place has gone from a community to roughly the equivalent of WalMart, and it's not pretty, okay? I know where the store is -- you make that clear on the home page -- and if I want to buy something, I'll go there. But when I'm here, it's to find information. If that makes the forum seem cold, well, so be it. There's probably a "general community" forum around here somewhere -- and if not, perhaps it's time to start one.

I suppose it depends on what you're looking for. I dont find much in the PC worth my money, because I know I'll never put it to use. Other folks find it invaluable, and God speed them. I'd recommend to anyone that you look at the inventory of items first, then decide if it's something you'll find worth the money.

Thread: Best Poseable Wings? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Angelyna, even though it slows down the rendering time. If it's crunch time, the Dreamer/Fallen Angel ones from DAZ. For something very different, the Deco wings from RDNA are quite cool

Thread: Black leather tuts? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you're in P4, go to the materials room and set the base colour as 100% black, the highlight as 50% black, with a highlight percentage of 70%. Make the last two 100% black. Should work pretty well.

Thread: Whitch character in free stuff is the best? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Depends on what kind of character you like. Sixius has some of the best "out there"/weird character models, while some of the Japanese sites have shown how much can be done with MayaDoll.

Thread: Can a new Poser character become successful? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Also, I've never used Don and Judy for the same reason I didn't use Posette and Dork - compared to the Millenium figures, they suck Actually, they dont. They were built with the concept in mind that the user would tailor the figure to suit his/her own tastes, which means a certain degree of blandness to start with. But both posette and the dork have enormous possibilities by applying a few face morphs and some decent texturing -- problem is, you have to work at it a little to make it happen. And most Poser users appear to have serious trouble with that idea.

Couple of things to watch out for with Motsura's stuff: (1) the hair props for Koshini are all layered into each other. You have to use the hierarchy window to turn on/off the ones you want (If you notice, there's a lot of invisible stuff there you can only find in the hierarchy) (2) His clothing pieces for K and I are great, but they're not grouped properly.

Thread: Illuminating Question - what IYHO makes for good lighting of a scene? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Most Poser renders tend to be flat because the lighting is flat. A good lighting set up, whether it's for a temple or an attack of a space zombie or whatever else you're working on, provides a sense of depth and texture through the means by which it creates shadows -- and we're not talking the kind that a figure casts on the ground, but the ones that comes from bends in the body and folds in the clothing. Colour -- if every light you use is the same colour, you're not giving the image a chance to work. The best lighting uses a main light in one colour, and a secondary light in a contrasting colour -- like, say, your image is at night -- you want your main light to be a soft blue. If you come around to the other side of your figure and hit it with an equally soft orange, the blue will really punch out. Things like this can make a set up really work, and the lights in Poser aren't that difficult once you get a few key concepts in place.
