I still think G9 was just a money making exercise, not an upgrade. 8k texture maps does not make an upgrade, i can do that on G8. i was soooo hoping for soft body dynamics,etc, let alone, a DS 5.0, and i don't think that will happen soon, thanks to the latest interest into AI over at Daz.

I still visit here every so often, i left poser a few years back now, as i felt with new updates to poser were not adding anything useful that i would use, and so moved over to DS, sadly this was also at the same time that most of my work was being pulled for TOS, My home is now on a popular art site, thus the lack of visits here, and tbh, has more of a community there.

I was thinking about this too, but on my system, it says that my pc does Not meet the requirements for Win11... i have an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 32gb ram and an RTX3090...
either they have no idea what they are talking about, something is reporting wrong, or Win11 needs an absolute beast of a machine.

forgot to add, pretty much March madness feels like a "we have to get people to buy Genesis 9" as most of the new releases are geared towards G9 in order for you to get any of the march madness savings..... and i wont be doing that.... complete waste of money.

A definite step backwards, shame they could have done so much with this, Soft body dynamics for one, and what was the point of push 8k textures as a selling point???? if you buy a character for G9 it wont use those textures anyway, and its up to content creators what size maps they use. to me a waste of time.

I Hate smart content, I have 1tb of content, and there is absolutely NO way i reinstalling all of that when i do a reinstall, so my content is on separate disks, so i only have to install daz, but then Daz cant figure out if i have the content installed or not. i dont care, i can still use it and it doesnt matter if they know or not, if i want an update i will just redownload it.

As stated above DOF is very easy in Daz, and makes the world of difference, try downloading some HRDI's they make lighting a lot better and in conjunction with additional lights (or emissive planes, like i use) can also boost the scene, The skin on the other hand, is the standard Daz plastic, and i never use skins out of the box from anywhere, i have heavily customised mine so that it looks like skin, it has depth, not only in bumps but in lighting at different levels as light passes through it. Im currently thinking of posting my skin shader over at DA as Rosity dislikes my work (there is worse here) Rule one, Play with it and save often, sometimes you find something new and you become better, Daz is very easy software to use, i know, i use it, lol.

Not sure if they moved the T pose again, but as for the bones, they changed the name of the four central ones, so at a minimum you will have to rename the abs and chest bones but beyond that, repositioning and scaling maybe... i wont find out as i get better results with G8F than what has been posted with G9F, as Daz still wont go mad with shaders, whereas i have, and the only thing i took away from G8.1F was the new PBR Uber shader just to add even more depth, but sadly they removed chromatic from spectral rendering, but i have now found a work around for that.

Absolutely no benefit to me whatsoever. G8F will remain my go to until they actually do a Real upgrade, not a mess around that is there to make people re-buy eveything.

No thanks, this to me is yet another pointless upgrade (if you can actually call it that). seperate eyeballs and mouth, well to non creators, not a plus at all, removing the abdomen and chest bones and renaming them as spine to be in line with other industry standards, yep that doesnt help me at all, infact that has just dumped on all my G8F clothes i wasted money on, nice. improved facial controls, really? G8.1 was a step backwards, and i see this as more of an extension of that, and 8k textures, oh hahaha, firstly some wont be able to use those (goodbye vram) and whats the point unless your stupidly close, but even then, there are close up renders of G8F with 4k skin that look better. G9 should have had soft body physics, or some better bone/bend control to give more realistic results. in my eyes they seem to be over milking a cow. or at least added some much updgraded features to Daz sudio, but what the hell am i saying, they only want upgrades that will give them more money, Be warned Daz, this would have been a perfect time bring more to the daz fold, and swing some so called lazy artists from AI generated art.

Im not calling out the artist, and i think this is just an error, i have talked to daz, but as usual im getting the run around, and im thinking they are not contacting the artist at all, as all they have told me is that they can render images with the product, which isn't the issue. on Rosity we can actually ask a question the seller, but there is no way to do this at daz, there is no help at all there, and this is the 3rd time ive been talking to the brick wall that is daz sales support, and none of the issues were the fault of the seller, and could easily have been fixed. I still think that the artist made this product with 4096 skin textures, but somewhere along the line they were reduced to 1024, the sales blub stated textures from 512 to 4096, None of the skin textures (normals, bumps, diffuse, etc) are in 4096, eyeshadow is, which doesn't make any sense, let alone if you look at the low res skin textures you can tell there is detail in them from the veins, but these are muddy in the low res image. if anything (as i have said to daz) please alter the product info, to state that the skin textures are 1024, as i only buy skin textures at 4096 or higher, lower just does not look good when im rendering images at 4k, and im guessing that most people who also render at these resolutions also don't use low res maps.File a support ticket at Daz, This seems wrong to call out an artist like this.

BTW im not calling out the vendor, this could be an honest mistake, or just the product description is misleading, i have more issues with daz over this as they seam to put less effort into what they do than they should, as i stated above, ive had several issues and none of them fixed, i still have completely broken products that i have bought, some i have fixed myself, which is wasting my time, and i payed not to be fixing something i purchased. as you can probably guess im no lover of the daz store or some of the things they do, Belladonnas work is excellent, and i can tell from the 1024 maps that there is a lot of detail in them, but sadly it's lost in the low resolution, and i think it's an honest mistake, but getting daz to help on this is like lighting a match in the sea.

and to be fair to this product it's not bad, just that it says textures from 512 to 4096 and the norm on body textures is 4096, not the less useful horns and eyeshadows being high res. i think it should state that the body/face texures are low res 1024 maps.

The bump and specular are also 1024, eyeshadow diffuse maps, and horns are 4096, everything else is 1024, and you need a diffuse/translucency map to be 4096, as images that are jpg and 1024 have huge compression artifacts, which look aweful in close up renders, no matter the normal and displacement and bump maps. i will open a ticket, but i dont hold much hope on this being changed, i bought a shader (grunge ground textures) pack from the daz store over a year ago, the shaders never and still dont work, Daz said they knew of the issue, and still no fix and it's still for sale, I am very unimpressed by their store, it has little help when it comes to asking the vendor or getting any resolution, it's better at renderosity as i can actually ask the vender, and they have buyer feedback and ratings here....sadly it's not the first nor the last time ive been stung by bad advertising and/or products.It looks as if Bumpt and Speculat are 4,096 and diffuse and normal are 1,024. It may be on the grounds that the diffuse colour doesn't need to have such small details, those are handled by the bump and specular, but it is not unreasonable to open a support ticket to ask.
