Thread: SkinVue 8 and Lips shaders | Forum: Vue
Yes, the default bump for this is too high. When you change the value for bump you can also save these parameters as your default parameters so that the next one is less bumpy.
Thread: Vue 8 and depth of field | Forum: Vue
The Vue 8 blur works just fine for me.
A couple of things:
1. To minimize blur artifacts when using either Hybrid 2.5D or Ray Traced blur, make sure you set Object AA quality to 100%. I normally use something like 4 min rays 8 max rays and quality set to 100%
Thread: V4 phone home - glowing fingers | Forum: Vue
Try reducing the radiosity gain or alternatively, use Rutra's suggestion and use the GI lighting model
Thread: Help with V8 | Forum: Vue
Mark,
Try updating your Open GL drivers for your card. I had exactly the same problem you did and after updating my Nvidia driver, the problem went away.

Thread: Poser/Vue integration | Forum: Vue
In Vue 8 you can repose rigged characters directly in Vue without having to go back and forth between Poser or having to use the sluggish Vue-Poser connection. The catch is that you have to export the rigged mesh as a Collada file with rigging which you can do using Poser Pro or DAZ Studio. Once the rigged mesh is inside Vue, you can manipulate joints directly using the standard Vue manipulators. Works really well for fine tuning a pose in Vue.
Thread: python help needed. I want to remove reflections on materials | Forum: Vue
You can just do a global edit of all materials in Vue and set the reflection value to 0%
This will change the reflection value to 100% for all selected materials
Thread: exporter does not work. | Forum: Vue
You say that when you export an obj that had previously been imported into Vue it gets messed up. A couple of things:
Vue triangulates all imported meshes. So if you imported a an object using quads it will export using tri's and they won't be welded either. You may have to use something like UV Mapper to weld the mesh.
UV's and material zones may also get screwed up after export if you use exotic procedural materials.
The Vue exporter is really designed to export Vue objects (e.g. Terrains, Vegetation, primitives, etc). It was not designed to re-export objects which you have already imported - although with a bit of work, this might be feasible in some cases.
Thread: Vue 8 test renders | Forum: Vue
Stunning work Chipp. These belong in the GodRays hall of fame. That second one is really awesome
Thread: Displacement on Poser figures in Vue | Forum: Vue
No, In Vue 6 infinite bump and displacement is either/or. In Vue 8 from what I saw at Siggraph, the displacement and bump is separated so you can adjust displacement and bump independently.
Thread: Is there a Vue equivalent to a Poser MAT pose? | Forum: Vue
This is a much needed feature in Vue. SkinVue basically does this for Poser characters but it's not generalized to work like the Poser pz3 injector does. What I think e-on needs to do is to create the concept of a material group or collection where you could save a collection of materials into a single file and use it like a Poser injector
Thread: An alternative way to do coast foam (Horizontal distance to object) | Forum: Vue
Yes, it would be nice if Vue had an object intersection node which could calculate the the intersection profile of 2 objects which in turn could be used to drive the foam, Usually I add another fractal node in combination with the distance to object below node in order to make the foam less uniform. The other possibility with Vue 7.4/7.5 is to paint the foam edge in the Terrain Editor - kinda like your Photoshop technique Art Pearl.
Thread: Somewhat OT - Paintings in an exhibition | Forum: Vue
Stunning work Art Pearl. Your talents are indeed considerable and well deserving of a place in such a high-profile exhibition.
Thread: Show-stopping menu/OOM problem | Forum: Vue
Here's something to try that has cleared up problems before. Uninstall Vue and then defrag your hard dirve. Then reinstall. Sometime bad disk sectors can cause wierd problems that will clear up when you defrag.
